Targets

Honestly I would just rather stand put with what we have than use a scholarship on a JUCO PG. Are we going to find a JUCO PG that is better than Blair/Newell will be next year?

We don't like to prognasticate on where kids will sign, but we can tell you that Cezar Guerrero likes the University of Oklahoma and the coaching staff a lot. Coach Capel has made a pledge to Cezar to attend his game versus Mater Dei High School. Mater Dei is one of the best high school programs in the nation so it may give Capel a chance to see other prospects.

If we want a point guard then we are probably going to have to be content with developing one (or two). As many have said all the "game changes" have either signed or would not sign at OU. So Get the best Freshman we can and develop him....if we can. And that is a big if. If Guerrero is all that then it might be worth our while to sign him if we can and then work Blair, Newel and him together. I personally think we are better off this route than taking what is left in Juco. If we had started earlier that might not be the case. As much as it pains me to say it I think we need 3 years of stability without players leaving to do we. Not something I think most will be willing to put up with, maybe myself included.

The biggest thing I see is while we have 2 extra scholarships now, they could do us absolutely no good this year. If we use one of them on another Ahmed type then it is a waste. We can't go into the early period with no scholarships left if there is a chance one or two players we took very late in the spring will bolt or wont be able to compete. this keeps the cycle going and there is no way out of it

there is a reasom why a pg is in juco. if you look at the juco rankings, bcs schools aint signing these pgs. give me the kid that has offers from ku and wake forest.

Agreed

and i dont wanna be totally anti juco, bit we have to be the only fanbase that wants to pass up on top 10 pgs for s two year player that no one even knows.

I agree with you about taking a juco point guard right now. But how are you going to convince a top 10 point to come to OU?? It would be a really tough sell right now. We may have to look down in the 11-25 range and bring them along.
