Terry Evans

Jim Tressel went to 6 championships, winning 4. Terry has never made a single title game. It is not a valid comparison. There are coaches that have been successful jumping from DII to DI, but it is usually to a smaller school and they are usually National Championship coaches.

This.

I actually think Evan's background makes him a more worthy candidate for the job at OU than Lowe's did at NC State, despite the fact that I felt certain Lowe was a good choice back then for the reasons I stated earlier. Yet, Terry's lack of experience at the D-1 level worries me. If he had served as an assistant at the major college level and/or as a head coach at a high mid-major school, I might feel better about giving him a shot. But coaching at a school like OU and in the Big 12 conference is a huge step up from high school, the AAU and a Division II school like UCO.

Maybe it will work out if Terry gets the chance. I'm just not convinced, and I'm concerned that if Joe C. doesn't get this hire right, it could be a very long time before we recover from another mistake.

We share the same concerns. For the record, my previous post was not meant to be a knock on Terry Evans. I just see the same Sidney Lowe pattern if he does end up getting the job at OU. Like you, I also felt for the Wolfpack fans. Every last one I spoke with was sickened by that whole embarassing process.

If Terry does end up getting the job, at least we'll know he'll put his heart and soul into it in hopes of turning things around.

And we know that he is very connected to basketball in the Oklahoma/Texas region. I think he'll recruit better than we think in this region. I'm a big Terry supporter, but have the same concerns as many. If we went the "older" coach route, I'd sure like to see Evans on the bench in some capacity...sort of the Cochell/Golloway deal.
