Texas Fires Karen Aston

I wonder if fexus would like to hire a HOF coach.....already knows the conference......??;)

Texas last five years, wonder how it compares to OU’s last five year record

2014-15 Texas 24-11 / 9-9 Big 12 [3rd] NCAA Sweet 16
2015-16 Texas 31-5 / 15-3 Big 12 [2nd] NCAA Elite Eight
2016-17 Texas 25-9 / 15-3 Big 12 [2nd] NCAA Sweet 16
2017-18 Texas 28-7 / 15-3 Big 12 [2nd] NCAA Sweet 16
2018-19 Texas 23-10 / 12-6 Big 12 [3rd] NCAA First Round

Us OU wbb fans could only wish to have had the last five seasons that Texas had. That was SC at her best. Although I don't think we've ever made an elite eight weed either gone to the final four or sweet 16, or the second round. There was an Instagram or Twitter post about the 2002 final four slash championship team and I commented on it stating 'that was back when we actually cared about fundamentals and valued the ball, can't wait to get back to that level again someday soon,' and my comment was somehow removed. Apparently the moderator of that account doesn't want any negativity, but it's inevitable with how we've been playing the last few years. Our last good truly competitive year was 2013 when we made the Sweet 16, IMO. We were picked to win the Big 12 in the 2014 season which was A. Ellenburg's last year however we failed miserably that are barely making it above .500.. SC is toast we need to do a Texas did and expect greatness out of our teams. Not so sure our ad has the same expectations of our program anymore..

For the last 5 years Sherri has averaged winning 10 fewer games per season and losing 6.8 games more games. Texas was 131-42 and Sherri was 81-76. And I predict Sherri is the coach for the 2023 season as dictated in her contract. That is 3 more years of continuing to see the program go south. JMHO.

Not sure how many good coaches would want the job, unless OU dishes out some Sherri Coale type money...I don't think they would do that

And here, OU is content with less than mediocrity. Aston was better than Coale has been in the last 10 years. Both the men's and women's programs are almost beyond repair.

I read somewhere yesterday that Aston only made a little over 500k A year. Had we fired SC and pursued another coach we might have been able to bring this guy in especially if we hired at what SC is making now, which is over twice as much. I understand location of Austin is more attractive than Norman but when you factor in the substantial pay I think any coach would be willing to give it a shot, especially if they are worth their pay. If SC has not been terminated at this point I don't believe she will be either which is a freaking shame because I don't want to see another 2-3 seasons of this crap!

They didn't just hire a coach, they hired a powerhouse. Schaefer had Miss State in the Finals two years in a row. They are rugged. Sherri is going to get destroyed by Texas and that is saying a lot since she couldn't beat Aston. I fear that Dionnah Jackson-Durrett will also be at Texas. Yikes!!!

+1 and a flagrant...you've said a mouthful! And at least four times a year that her former players (TCU and Texas if Jackson-Durrett follows Schaefer) will be whooping on their alma mater coach.

The daughter is next! She is at all the home games.

Heck, just go ahead and make it a one big happy family affair. Fire Stiles and Washington, then hire the daughter and the husband and make the most $$ these last few years until the contract ends...unless they extend again! :D
