Yeah, bad taste to swallow after losing that 13 point lead
I read they were talking NBA names like Quin Snyder which was kinda hilarious. In hindsight guessing they may be regretting dumping Beard, he had them at a point where they likely would have competed in the top half of the SEC.Texas has a lot of NIL money...they will be looking for a major upgrade at the head coach level. Maybe they should pursue Rick Barnes. Regardless, there are 64 schools remaining, and 3 of them used to be a head coach for the Longhorns.
Yeah I saw some message board post saying they should go after Billy Donovan. LOL. Just the arrogance of Horns fans.I read they were talking NBA names like Quin Snyder which was kinda hilarious. If I had to predict who the next coach will be at Texas, I would definitely say Royal Ivey. Considering he played at Texas and with a lot of colleges going with the NBA assistant path in hiring coaches.Yeah I saw some message board post saying they should go after Billy Donovan. LOL. A lot of speculation on Royal Ivey being the top target. Others, what maybe Hodge? Would MacCasland consider?
It's going to be tough for them to get a guy the alum and donors both approve. They've turned on some successful coaches at the slightest adversity.

never go full draymond.Every OU coach should teach this vs Texas.
Eh don’t think you need to be a blue blood to have high standards and hold your coaches to those standards or find somebody else who will. Tbh I’m jealous and hate that it’s Texas who’s acting like it.Terry’s results are not worthy of being fired imo. Texas isn’t some blue blood basketball team to just fire a coach after an elite 8 and making the tournament in 1st 2 full years (made 2nd round last year).
Texas is paying way more for their roster too so they will be pissed off for being mediocre. We invest next to nothing compared to them in our basketball program. They also just got a new arena.Eh don’t think you need to be a blue blood to have high standards and hold your coaches to those standards or find somebody else who will. You’re proving my point.Texas is paying way more for their roster too so they will be pissed off for being mediocre. We invest next to nothing compared to them in our basketball program. They also just got a new arena.

With a good coach, it will. That is the problem. Coaches will line up to go there.so new arena + lots of nil does not = winning?
Word on the street is that Sean Miller is a lock. He’s a good coach right? There is one area where attracting a top head coach will be difficult for Texas in spite of the money. Thier basketball fan base is really not much better than ours. They may have more in attendance due to the sheer size of Austin vs Norman....but I don't see a raucous home court advantage that head coaches like to see. They are clearly a football school, just like OU is...something a lot of basketball coaches aren't exactly enamored with. The best head coaches may be attracted to the money, but those same coaches may have better option than coaching at a football school that will always be a football school.
the arena will bring more fans / money that brings $$$ and kids ..I don’t think the arena means near as much as $$$. Most kids would play at the fieldhouse for enough money
If you have more people going to the games consistently you will get more NIL. Although we still barely see attendance for Women's basketball games and they are pretty good. But NIL for Women's basketball is much lower.I don’t think the arena means near as much as $$$. Most kids would play at the fieldhouse for enough money

I don’t think Terry is a great coach (ask yourself, would you rather have him or Moser) but in a three year sample size; Elite 8/Conference Tournament Championship in 2023, 20 wins & NCAA Bid in 2024, NCAA Bid in 2025.so new arena + lots of nil does not = winning?
