Texas will find out how good they are when they play Tennessee Sunday.

Next Wednesday Texas plays #8 Mississippi St. Vic is really building them into a good team.

My guess is TN will seek revenge in their stadium.....MUTILATION!!!!! of TX of course!

I hear A. Atkins isn't playing due to having surgery on her troubled ankle this past summer. That will be an issue for Texas down the road.

I don't think we match up well against Texas. They have quickness, shooters, as well as Lang and Boyett inside.

Atkins did have surgery as well as Taylor. As per a relative of Brady Sanders she had most likely a career ending surgery on her foot. I think she has played a few min here and there but out for the most part.

We can and WILL beat them!

Boyette gives us trouble. Usually, we encounter one guard who is hot, but there is no advance notice of which one it might be. But, I think we play basketball better than Texas, and we are as good or better athletically. I don't remember a Texas team beating OU unless they had a post that was a problem. I wonder if having a Vivi with more experience won't limit their effectiveness. They can't gang up on Kay Kay. By far the best athlete that Texas has had recently was Enempkali, and we won that game last year.

Higgs looked more athletic than any guard that Texas has had in my recent memory. But, Tennessee wasn't exactly the Tennessee of old. They couldn't feed the post without a turnover, and they were all about points in the paint. They looked like rather poor ball-handlers for a highly-ranked team. Tennessee may find other teams difficult to beat this year.

Tango mentioned on another thread that a lack of speed and quickness are problem areas for us. I think most agree with that when compared with a team like Texas.

L Williams and T'ona certainly help in that regard but neither are scorers. T'ona can add assists but turnovers can be a problem. Peyton is a very good player but she isn't the quickest player on the court. So, if you bring in T'ona and L Williams (to replace Gabbi and Derica) to add speed and quickness to compete with the likes of Rodrigo, McCarty, and Higgs, you have very limited scoring ability from the guard position other than Peyton who will be going against a quicker player and even though she will score, hitting her average of 16 ppg will not be easy. We only play 1 player at a time taller than 6'2". That leaves Kaylon or ViVi guarding a much taller Boyette. Who guards 6'5" Lang? Some have suggested starting Kaylon and ViVi together. That could help but it could also get both in foul trouble. Sherri has not shown that she is willing to go that route.

So, while there isn't a team I would rather beat than Texas, it will take a huge game to pull off a win.

I value quickness much more than speed.Beyond T'ona we arent quick. Maddie can give the appearance of quickness because of her long arms, her anticipation and basketball smarts.

Atkins will be back mid December and it will be tough for anyone in the big 12. Remember that's the group who won Nike nationals together.

No way is Tennessee a #4 team.

Right! With the talent they have, they should be pushing UConn for the top but they aren't. They won their 2 of their previous 3 games by only 2 pts each at home; Chattanooga and Syracuse. Holly is going to have to pick up the coaching on the floor aspect. She seems to have the recruiting down.

Can't really say she has the recruiting down. Still in the wait in see mode with that. No 2016 kid coming in

I just saw bits and pieces but wasn't overly impressed with either team. Neither looked like a dominant team or one you would say "that team is going to the Final Four.

I watched about half the game, and this is about what I saw. Neither team has good handles. Tennessee shouldn't be in the SEC hunt this year. They do have one player who is good. Texas had the better talent. But, Texas still doesn't use it to play basketball very well. Either team would have been probably about 10-8 in the Big Twelve last year, maybe 11-7.

Do you think they say the same thing about Oklahoma after they watched them lose to north Texas? Btw that's north Texas only win at the moment

Same thought I had. Far too early to write anyone off yet.

Exactly right. Teams can play bad one game and really well the next. It's hard to evaluate how good or bad a team is by only watching them play one game. Just as it's hard to tell how good or bad a player is by only watching them play one time.

It's interesting that someone on this board can criticize OU and be thought of as balanced and objective. Yet, if you criticize Texas or Baylor, it is bashing and based on little information. You know, we have been watching this same Texas propensity now for several years. They keep advertising new lyrics, but it is the same song, second verse.
