Yes, OU did probably want them at the time and yes those were some of the top recruits for 2009. Lyndsey's AAU team played against Bone, Reed and Griner; they won some and lost some just like we did. The motivation was to beat them because then you were on the same playing level and you knew you could play with the best. I give credit to her AAU coach Clarissa Davis Wrightsil for the great work ethic she instilled in her players...especially my daughter. (and for those that don't know who Clarissa is give her name a google) She practiced her teams like they were in college. You came to work or go home.
So whether or not you may think Lyndsey is Big XII material, of course, is your opinion. I have the boxes and boxes of recruiting letters from the Big XII, SEC, Big East, and more to prove she was a very capable player. In her senior year, OU attended many of her AAU games and high school games as well as many other top D1 Universities. So if she was meant to be a back up; it sure didn't feel like it. Her recruiting period will be an experience of her lifetime as well as ours that we will never forget.
Lastly MAC to answer your question; Lyndsey never sat the bench in her whole basketball career and was always the top scorer and starter so when she came to OU and the injuries came...that was a tough pill to swallow. She learned to take a new role and did it becauses she loved the game, OU and her teammates. No time for pity parties...Enough said.
