I evaluate this hire based on who I believe will have us stonger as a program in five years. Although I think Buzz will bring immediate excitement back to our program, I don't know that he can sustain things better over the long haul. I believe that Marshall, Johnny Jones, or Dave Rose would have us in a much better position five years from now than Buzz would.
Buzz is a great communicator and motivator but those other guys can coach better in my opinion. Watching Wichita State, North Texas, and BYU play, I would say that those guys also stress hard work and defense. In a nutshell, I just don't see Buzz bringing home that National Title banner that all of us Sooner fans want. I think the other guys give us a better chance at it.

Johnny Jones has been at North Texas for 10 years and has a 56 win % and about 52% in conference.

Unfortunately, none of those guys reek of being a splash hire that I think OU is required to make in this instance. Sorry, but none of their resumes are that much better than when Capel came here. The guy is going to be regional, so that gives a couple of them the chance, but Williams is playing his way into the job, if he didn't have it already.

Don't forget that Jones was the interim HC at Memphis, had a piss-poor year and was pushed out the door for Calipari. If Jones becomes coach, 50 candidates better have turned OU down. Coaching in the Sun Belt is much like what Terry is doing in D2. No thanks.

Marshall's resume is superior to Capel's at the time of his hire, it's not even close.
