1. Ana continues to play at this level.

2. Madi in year two discovers this kind of confidence in her game.

3. Tatum in year two does the same thing.

4. Lampkin (rinse and repeat)

and

Scott surrounded by that talent does not have the same freshman year struggles.
same for Gregory and Bloom.

and

Sherri finally signs someone in spring. You cannot tell there's not one juco player out there that cannot help this roster.
Or grad transfer.

I have looked at the transfer list of Raoul's blog. The point that stands out is that the ones that you might really use have a tendency to announce where they are transferring when they announce that they are available for transfer. I wonder if there isn't some recruiting going on? The ones that are open and available appear to be headed to DII schools or NAIA schools. A lot averaged 1.4 ppg as freshmen. We had good luck with Maria Villarroel. Since?

I think the last three games will reveal a lot. If we win at least two, it may indicate that we have found ourselves. In our two recent wins, Shaina has played eight minutes and scored two points.

The opposition has known about Ana in the last several games. After the opener, she has only played in conference games which tends to skew the level of difficulty of her competition. She didn't build her stats against Central Arkansas and Northwestern State. But, they have known that she is our leading scorer for about five or six games now, and they don't seem to be able to stop her. She has hit double figures in all but three Big Twelve games, and she now has eight straight games of sixteen or more. Her season average FG% is 37.07%. Her average in the last eight games is 43.55%. Her three point averages are 34.62% and 39.34%, respectively. Her FT% has risen from an average of 80.19% to 84.21%. Everything has risen once she has settled in. She has averaged 22.5 ppg in the last eight games as opposed to 17.06 for the year. Thirteen of her seventeen assists were during this eight-game span.

I wonder if the reason that Taylor hit six of eight threes against WV was because she was open more because they weren't covering her as tightly, focusing on Ana? First Big Twelve game with more than three.

Jessi seems a bit looser with Ana taking over.

Madi will be Madi. She could use some help on the boards. She is about the same on the boards (8) as Vivi. Hopefully, Bloom and Scott will help. Maybe Lampkin and Williston can help?

I think just the questions will be entertaining.

I also hope for anew head coach, but know it will not happen.

I think maybe the sand in the gearbox for this team all season long has been Shaina. Shaina has had very few minutes lately and the team is in sync a lot more, has more energy and seemingly more "want to". I like what I am seeing. Anna has really came on, Jessi is in positive control, Made playing her butt off. Go team!

To make some real progress next year. it would be appear the following is needed

1. Lose Shaina. It's not working for anyone involved.
2. You have to find a way for Scott's minutes to be at the 4, and Madi's minutes have to be at the 3.
3. So you have to have Lampkin or Bloom settle into the 4. Simpson's minutes need to be reduced.
4. Ana's your 2 guard. Gregory is your backup 2 and 3. TR is the zone busting 2.
5. Tatum and Jessi figure out the PG battle.
6. You have to completely work the transfer list and juco lists. 8-19 teams don't get to be that picky in terms of what could help the roster.

I agree with the above except for Madi at the 3. I just don’t think she shoots well enough, particularly from the 3, to be a small forward. It appears to me she is an athletic strong but undersized 4.

I don't think the sole weakness has been Shaina. Murcer is finally figuring it out, Lampkin as well. Not sure what happened to Shaina and I hate to see it go that way.

Have noticed that Sherri is substituting very little the last few games as well so maybe it has been difficult to get the right chemistry. Took quite some time this year. The good news is that they are SO young; sure hope they bring in a JUCO post player that has some size. Don't think you can play in the Big 12 or the national stage without a true big.

I think that Madi is fifth in the Big Twelve in rebounds, fourth in offensive rebounds. The only time she isn't performing as an ace #4 may be on offensive and defense against someone like Cox who is five inches taller.

Iowa State had a 5-11 F who led the Big Twelve in rebounds twice?

Has Baylor had a better rebounder than 6-0 Nina Davis?

I see Madi as a 3-5, depending on the situation and team we are playing. But, I suspect we will see a lot of that as people slide into positions based on the assets of the other team.

Williston 5
Bloom 3-5
Lampkin 3-5
Scott 3.5-5
Madi 3-4.5
Gregory 3-4
Ana 1.5-3
Taylor 2
Jessi 1--1.5
Tatum 2

syb,
scott's a 4 right?? at 6-2 allegedly.
so madi moves to the 3. we know she can guard 3s.

I think that will probably fit about 80% of the time. I'm not exactly sure how good of a shooter Liz is, or from where. Different sources, different reports. I'm also not sure how good of an outside shot Madi will become. I have been surprised that she has picked up that 20-foot jump shot. I tend to visualize a three as someone who can shoot from the corner, although we really have never had a great shooter from the corner. I think Whitney and Maddie would have been, started out that way.

Madi is a scorer but has a long ways to go to become a shooter at any distance including 2'. She has no consistency in her shoot IMHO. Seems to throw it up a different way almost every time. She is shooting only 42% playing mostly around the paint and that 42% is as high as it is because of her offensive rebounding and put backs. She is 2/20 BTA. Just a guess but a would put her at 25% from 12' or out.

She is 20/59 33.9%her last 5 games 33 and went 1/12 vs Baylor but the lousy OSU and Kansas defenses saved her as she went 10/20. The coaches definitely need to work on her shot if she is going to play the 3.

Course if Bloom was a stretch 4/5 with a serious outside shot
then you could make it all work.
