That wasn't even random. Nova was 10+ points better than KU on paper, and it played out that way. Nova is better at every single position than KU, and had a fantastic bench, whereas KU had the worst bench I've ever seen.

Self worked a miracle to get this team as far as it did. It was probably the worst team he's had here at Kansas, and he made the final four with it.

I think KenPom had Villanova +6.

Nova was setting 3 point records before the first half was even over. That game was not usual at all.

And this KU team had more talent than any team Lon has ever coached, so I'm gonna vomit if I hear how untalented this team was. Far more talent than our Final 4 team a few years back. Bill Self if a phenomenal coach, though.

Nova got off to a hot start shooting for sure. But overall they shot 55% from the field and 45% from 3, when their season averages are 50 and 40. So they shot about 5% better than their season average. Kansas never even got the lead to single digits, despite Nova cooling off significantly in the 2nd half.


And this KU team wasn't particularly talented. Newman, Graham and Svi are all damn good players, but there was a huge dropoff from there. Vick and Doke were very limited players, and the guys on the bench were flatout bad. I would take OU's 2016 roster in a heartbeat. Having the best player on the floor by a substantial margin in every game you play is huge, which is what OU had with Buddy.
