I do not buy into the rubbish that OU can't afford to eat an additional year of Jeff's contract. Joe is responsible for prematurely giving Jeff a big fat contract extension. He created this mess. Now he needs to fix it. As long as Joe allows this debacle to continue, I don't want to read or hear the word EXCELLENCE coming from the athletic department.

But, he represents the school with class and he's a nice guy.

I agree with this, from everything that I have seen of him, I like Capel as a person.

Having said that, if you look at the raw figures which Sooner04 was kind enough to post in another thread.... Capel should be given his walking papers at the end of the season.
I feel strongly enough about it to fear that if Joe C gives Capel another year, and if Osby and Goff lead a turnaround, I still think that Jeff needs to hit the bricks, but because of the projected improvement, he won't, thus putting the program through another 3 or so years of depressing conference-cellar dwellers.

For a program like OU to be substandard is unacceptable.
