BREAKING: Iowa State has landed 7-1 skilled lefty Giorgos Tsalmpouris, from Greece. Will come over this summer. Nice prospect.

Where does Hoiberg find these guys? Like it or not, he's doing an amazing job up there in Ames.

Word has it the Timberwolves and Warriors both have interest in him but he's staying put at ISU. He's going to cement them in the top 4 of the conference.

College scouting services might now have seen him play enough to accurately rank him. Lattin fell about 75 spots just for going to play overseas for a year.

Yes but I think the point is that OU fans tend to over play the recruits at other schools and under play our recruits.

I like Hoiberg but Kruger is doing an equally good if not better job.

Iowa State won the Big XII tournament and advanced to the sweet 16. Get real. Kruger has accomplished nothing remotely close at OU to Hoiberg.

When you read the Vegas interview it becomes abundantly clear Kruger justed detoured through Norman on his way to retirement to pocket an extra $15 million. Who could blame him? Going to be tough to recruit with everybody knowing this.

Kruger took over a program that was in pathetic shape and is one year behind Hoiberg in turning the programs around. The two coaches have done virtually identical things except Kruger is doing with a fan base that is comprised of a lot of people like you. Just imagine if Kruger didn't have to overcome a fan base full of people like you.

You can be proud of Kruger...but what Hoiberg has done is an unbelievable job. OU was 2 years from an elite 8 appearance when Kruger took over. ISU has been in the dumps for a long time and he has totally changed that around. He's bringing in solid high school recruits to go along with a bunch of transfers. And to be honest, we thought Kruger would be bringing in transfers like he did at UNLV and he really hasn't done that at the level we all expected him too.

And also, ISU played UConn tough without Niang. It could have been a different story had he not gotten injured.

OU was on probation and had two consecutive losing seasons. Kruger inherited a program that went 17-33 in Big XII play without Blake Griffin. What Blake Griffin did at OU with Sampson's surrounding players is completely irrelevant to what Krueger inherited.

ISU and OU were in very similar positions when they made a coaching change. The year before Hoiberg arrived both schools went 4-12 in the conference. Hoiberg's first year ISU was 3-13. Both teams were bad and both coaches turned them around in just one year.

After three seasons Hoiberg had won 26 conference games. After three season Kruger has won 30 conference games. The best season for either coach was 12 wins (both schools). As an OU fan, you should be able to complement Kruger and the OU program without OU fans challenging a very valid comparison to OU and ISU.

I want to be clear, I am not insulting Fred Hoiberg. He is doing a great job at ISU. The point (and you reinforce it) is the perception or attitudes of many OU fans.

Finally, I agree ISU might have been able to beat Uconn with Niang.

The thing is Kruger has done this before. While he has exceeded my lofty expectations, this is what he has made a career doing. Hoiberg has never really coached prior to coming home. What he has done is almost as impressive as what CLK has done but far more surprising.

Kruger inherited 3 all Big XII players from Capel. That's pretty darn good. Capel inherited zero all Big XII players from Sampson.

Boca, I've been as objective about Coach Capel as anyone on this board, and have come to his defense numerous times when I hear ridiculous things like "worst OU hoops coach EVER." However, part of being objective is also knowing when the Capel supporters get carried away as you did with that post. While Osby, Clark and Pledger were slightly better than Carter, Neal and Longar, how about we look at the next 4 best players. 2007 had T Griffin, Godbold, Crocker and Johnson...2012 had Fitzgerald, Grooms (he would have gone to OU if I was the coach), and NO ONE ELSE capable of helping a major D-I program succeed. Translation: the 2007 squad had more talent than the 2012 team despite your spin to the contrary.

I would add that you can make your point about Hoiberg without tearing apart Coach Kruger. Both have done an impressive job in a short amount of time. Both have their programs pointed toward the top half of the conference for the foreseeable future. Hoiberg does deserve the slight edge based on the fact he has done better in the post-season. With my last sentence, I just made your point without making unnecessary and unwarranted remarks about Coach Kruger.

Put it this way. If Capel was still coach and had done exactly what Kruger has done the past 3 years I would be for getting rid of him. The temporary dip in the program is directly related to Warren, Gallon & Mason-Griffin. The program was going to self correct back from the hole those guys left no matter if Capel or Kruger was coaching as there were 3 future all big XII players already on the roster.

Hoiberg has done a better job by far than either Capel or Kruger (who are equal in my book).

When folks want to advertise their ignorance you don’t really have to do anything, you just let them talk. And that’s what happened here.
Truer words may never have been spoken.

Doesn't hurt recruiting when you can say that NBA teams are infatuated with you.
