It seemed to me that all Creighton had to do to get an open 3 point shot was to drive to he basket whereupon we would collapse on defense leaving shooters open on the perimeter for a clear shot immediately or after one pass.
We never caught on, either.

Their PG was good. We should have been able to stay in front of him a little better. He went to his right most of the time.

Their PG Watson was a really good ball player. I was impressed with Creighton's offense. They're a pretty good team and I give them a lot of credit.

Maybe our defense could have been better, too. I can't be upset with 11 blocks, 7 steals, and forcing 12 turnovers. We shut down their leading scorer, Zierden. On the other hand, Huff and Milliken hurt us from the perimeter for sure, and they got 15 offensive rebounds. Also, Watson could penetrate at will. It gave us something to work on for the next couple of practices.

The second chance points kept them in early and the knocked down a few threes in the 2nd half to keep it close. I thought the D was good outside of that.

This will be the best game they will play all year. The same thing happened last year when they beat us. They didnt do much the rest of the year.

Creighton well coached. We did give them some open shots but many of their made threes were well guarded. Sometimes you have to give the other team credit for good play. They had their A game going today. I don't think it was our A game but I like the way we closed the game. Their big guy hurt us inside with offensive boards and he also had a pretty nice shot. That concerns me more than the made treys.

Manyang looked pretty good but he didn't see the court after he launched from about 17 feet out in a pretty tight situation. We need more effective Odomes and James minutes to get the kind of depth we need. Good to see Buford playing well. And Walker is showing consistent quality off the bench.

Indiana came from behind to knock off Notre Dame today. That is always good for my morale.

I mentioned this in the game thread. Even when an on ball defender was in good guarding position they would just collapse or double team the player for no reason. it wasn't until they stopped doing this that they went on their run to pull away.

At a recent Tip In Club function, a coach said that defensive rebounding was a primary area that needed improvement. He said that the positive rebounding stats so far were a "bit of fool's gold" given that the really strong rebounding opponents are still on the schedule.
