There must be something in the Stillwater to make Pokes good at flopping. Former Poke Tony Allen got caught, and fined. Will college officials wise up this fall? Stay tuned.

Officials called a flagrant foul on Manu Ginobili for grabbing Allen's arm as the Grizzlies guard drove to the basket with 26.1 seconds left in regulation Tuesday night. Allen hit the court and rolled over, holding his hands to his head. Replay showed the Grizzlies guard never hit his head on the court.

I posted this half tongue in cheek. But you've got to admit that the account of Allen's antics is a grim reminder of what we saw Marcus Smart do a number of times last season. It worked for Smart and it worked for Allen, except he was caught in the act later when the NBA watched the replay.

Is it time for a flop rule at the college level? Not just for players like Smart who clearly make flopping an art form, but for any player who is inclined to make a mockery out of the game by bailing out before he's touched or feigning an injury.

Yeah, Tony Allen exaggerated the fall/injury but he did indeed get hit and dragged down hard in mid-flight. It wasn't like Tony fell down on his own and started to hold his head.

This is pretty funny coming from a fan base who has one of the top 5 floppers in the NBA

I assume you're referring to Griffin. He's never been fined, plenty of other players have so that must knock him out of the top 5.

When your team has benefited from the coddling of one of its key players by the officials, as oswho has, all you can do is point fingers at others.

I am glad he did this, lets be honest Ginobli deserved it more than anyone..

Agreed. And henceforth [like olde English] might we quit referring to the player at question as "Smart". Worst draft in history had him going Top 5 and he stayed, Marcus Stupid more like it. I'm positive I have a post to back it up, but once NCAA tourney rolls around, there will be an A10 official that has no clue who Marcus Stupid is and poques will be one and done [again].

So bitter and jealous of our team and All-American. One and done would be better than going to the CBI which is most likely with that thing you call a roster but hey, good thing Kruger is knocking em' dead in recruiting, right? I'm looking forward to the great Tyler Neal getting solid minutes next season and TCU needs you to continue to give them wins.

After his third year, 6 million plus will he quite the invstment for horrible recruiting, 1-3 in the Big 12 tourney, missing the tourney 2 out of 3 years with one double digit seed season while choking away lead after lead down the stretch last season. I'm not complaining though, it will just be another however many consecutive year you're behind us in conference. I hope you keep him around and keep funding the has been's retirement package.

Yeah... all of this flopping is enough to make Blake Griffin blush...

:)

No joke, I do wonder how Marcus Smart will adjust as a huge part of his game depends on flopping and getting calls from officials.

What do you mean "all you can do is point fingers at others"... that's the whole entire point. You guys cry like little girls with skinned knees about Marcus Smart flopping, when the very point is that it's rampant in the game.

LeBron flops. Chris Paul flops. Dwayne Wade flops. Everybody does.

And to that point, your boy Blake Griffin is one of the biggest known floppers in the NBA.

A few choice cuts:

Until refs make it a point to regulate flopping out the game, players will continue to do it in order to get an advantage.

I'm sorry, is Keith Smart in the NBA? No? Then why are you citing NBA players?

I couldn't care less what goes on in the NBA (though they do have fines and penalties for flopping in that league, and this season Blake Griffin was assessed no such penalties or fines).

By the final third of the season, even television announcers were calling out the officials for coddling Smart. So you can pretend everyone's doing it, but that's not the case -- certainly not at the rate Smart has to this point in his career.

Yeah, not everybody flops and I've only noticed a few in college try. Nobody in college flops like Smart and only a few in the NBA do. It's weak and he should be above doing it.

That was the main point of this thread. It's also why I asked this question at the end:
