"Everyone hates a ball hog but everyone loves a scorer."

Kevin Durant is someone who could be in the category of a ball hog. He wants the ball, he dribbles the ball, and he shoots the ball...a lot. But, when he knocks down a three or drives in and dunks over someone, the fans go wild.

Some will say the same thing about Aaryn (minus the dunking part of course). I would consider her a volume shooter. She shoots every chance she gets. But, unless she is having a bad night, there is no one I would rather see shoot an outside shot more than her. The girl is really good!

My definition of a ball hog is someone who never passes it once they get the ball. They shoot no matter if they have a shot available or not.

I don't watch the Thunder enough to know whether Durant fits in that category or not. Aaryn doesn't seem to take shots when she's not open.

I don't know of anyone who never passes it or shoots every time even if they are covered.

I probably developed that definition when my kids were playing ball. ;)

But, when I think about college teams, I've seldom seen a player who would fit that definition. Perhaps that's why some players seldom see the floor or are invited to sit by the coach soon after they come into games.

Here are the shots taken and percentages for the top 5 shooters for us this season:

Aaryn 542 42.4% 3-pts 41.4%

Morgan 306 37.6% 3-pts 33.1%

Nicole 296 50.0% -----

Sharane 267 41.6% 3-pts 28.9%

Joanna 261 44.8% 3-pts 37.9%

I know who I want shooting for us on a regular basis. Thank goodness Sherri doesn't recruit "ball hogs", but she does give the green light to the kids that can light it up, and Aaryn certainly is one of those. Its rare to find a kid that shoots as well from 2 point range and they do from the 3. I'll take those numbers all day long.

You bet...you love for shooters with those percentages to get open, square up their shoulders, and make a nice stroke. It was great that Sharane shot 42% in conference play from BTA. Throw in Kornet who is gaining confidence and we should have some very capable outside shooting this year.
