if you're STARVING then anything tastes amazing...even this bland saltine cracker.

when you're thinking that the best you might come up with is Buzz...then maybe Pastner...then perhaps the Wichita State dude...or maybe Terry Evans...at that point OF COURSE Lon Kruger sounds like the second coming of Coach Wooden.

Honestly Kruger's a mediocre hire at best. No risk, no high ceiling. He adds nothing to recruiting and brings nothing dynamic to the job. He's tapioca instead of vanilla.

I worry how his style will thrive in the Big-12 without 3-4 year starters or upper tier recruits. We'll see...maybe a change of scenery revitalizes him.

Overall a C+ (plus because of experience)

Waaaaaaaah. Waaaaaaah. Waaaaaaah. Sorry you're not not happy. You speak for about 3% of the fanbase. Congrats.

serioulsy you are annoying as hell. i almost wish this hire didn't happen just so you would stop *****ing about everything.

Forget it.

in cool's defense: he's been around awhile, knows a lot about basketball, and has been pretty reasonable in the past. Capel's last two years seem to have soured him...let him vent.

have to agree with coolm on this one...Joe C messed up good on this ...I am so disappointed......this is a desperate move to cover his butt for what (and how) he did to Jeff Capel...probably feelin the heat if it's true that all the others turned him down..

BS! He's rejuvenated or improved every program he's coached. Florida was nothing before him. KSU, UNLV: both rejuvenated because of him.

My guess is you know nothing about basketball. Your top level was probably the 12th man on your 5th grade pee-wee squad. Go away cool. You gripe about everything. Kruger's resume speaks for itself. He has won every place he's been. He's won BIG at most places. Please, please get some basketball IQ and then come talk to the rest of us. National pundits are considering this the best hire out of any of the vacancies. You know more than them too, right. STFU, please.

Lon Kruger is a more accomplished coach than Billy Gillispie without all the baggage.

I thought Billy G was the best we could get but if this goes through we got much better.

coolm and reasonable do not belong in the same sentence, ever.

Final Four, elite 8, 4 different programs to sweet 16's, nearly 500 overall wins.

Why isnt he exciting? Because he isnt 30 years old? Since when did being 30 with no experience become such a great thing?

This is a great hire.

He better hire a darn good recruiting staff
Think its a decent hire, but not sure it will put butts in the seats

cool, you yourself said OU needed a good game day coach. We just got one.

And while we aren't rebuilding our program from nothing, we are at one of our lowest points in the last 30 years. Lon has a reputation, multiple times over, of coming into a bad situation, and winning within a couple of years.

How in the world can that be a bad hire? Will we win a NC under Kruger? Probably not. But he can rebuild the program, and in 5-7 years, we can maybe go land that type of coach.

I like the Kruger hire better than most realistic options. I'd have preferred BCG, but OU wanted someone squeaky clean. I would have preferred Buzz, but either the buy out was too much, or he wasn't interested. I'd prefer the Butler coach, but he isn't coming.

My goodness you people are about as dumb as it gets. Again, Andy Katz, Doug Gottleib and Jay Bilas call it home run. You know more than them, right?

unfortunately you're wrong. I've seen many games coached by Kruger ... if for no other reason than the time at KState. He doesn't coach a bad game and he has had some really good guards (always liked Mitch Richmond), it's just a really safe hire.

If you wanna keep railing on me for saying it's a really safe hire (which you're gonna hear a million times) then rosin it up get it rollin'
