Not just the fact that our team has not performed to the level we are all used too as fans...

Since OU hasnt played well my interest in college basketball has been at an all-time low...i still watch games from time to time and know who is good an what not, but usually this time of year i can tell you who will make noise in the tourney and break down almost every team...

This year, not so much...i still know the top ranked teams, but i cant tell you who is on the bubble or who are sleepers going into conference tourneys and the tourney itself...

It is pathetic and just now starting to bother me...

I think the reason it just hit me this weekend is because i watched the whole BYU/San Diego State game...I am missing out on the Jimmer's in the college landscape, and have all season...

BIGABD, i know you have been keeping up...list me some players across the landscape of college bball that i cant miss this tourney season and the teams i should look out for going into the tourney that arent at the top of their respective leagues...including mid majors...(anyone really can answer these questions)...

I think a team that's going to go deep in the tournament is St. John's. They're playing some impressive basketball and are pretty much all seniors. Some mid-major teams I think will shock their opponent...Utah State and George Mason.

Ive noticed that Lavin has done a pretty decent job up there this year, they have some big wins but not a great record overall...they will be interesting to watch in the tourney...

Havent heard much about Utah State or Mason this year, will have to keep an eye out come conference tourney time...

Best player no one talks about because his team won't likely make the tournament is Marshon Brooks out of Providence. Kid can fill it up.

Is he the one that scored 50+ a few weeks ago? That is impressive in the college game...hell, 30+ is impressive in the college game...

50 in a college game is insane. That's like scoring 70 in an NBA game.

Marshon is a stud, 6'5" 2-guard...will be a late first round steal in the draft.

Really excited for the Mountain West Tournament, you've got two teams guaranteed high NCAA seeds (BYU and San Diego State), one team who needs a couple wins (Colorado State - Tim Miles has done a great job this year) and two outsiders who could realistically win it altogether (New Mexico and UNLV). Will be in Vegas for the final, hoping to get to see some Jimmer vs. SDSU or UNM in person.

If College of Charleston gets in, look for them to upset someone in the first round. They are a Goudelock (their best player).

Looks like they have to win their conf tourney to get in...

That dude is consistent scoring the ball and at a nice percentage too 46% 2, 40% 3...

I will be in Vegas that weekend for a wedding...I wonder if I could sneak away for the final?

34 at #15 Villanova (team won)
21 vs Depaul (team won)
19 vs #4 Pitt (team won)
28 at Marquette (team won)
18 at Cincy (team won)
33 vs #9 UCONN (team won)
32 at UCLA (team lost)
26 vs #3 Duke (team won)
15 vs Rutgers (team won)

Dwight Hardy, St. Johns. 25 ppg over his last 9 games, and the team is 8-1 in that stretch.

Steve Lavin is riding his two juco players (Dwight Hardy and Justin Brownlee) into the top 10, and are probably the hottest team in the country right now.

the impressive thing about the Johnnies is Lavin doing it with smoke and mirrors because they are not the most talented team around.

Why not?

The final tips at 4 pm, I will definitely be there if the Jimmers make it.

Then we can head over to the Mirage and hit up Rhumbar.

Here's what I'm leaning towards, as of right now. I don't put too much stock into conference tournaments (although they are incredibly fun to watch) as different teams put different amounts of effort into them, so I doubt my opinions on the following teams will change too much.

The Favorites:
1) Ohio State - Only go 7 deep but those 7 players are all good. Also have lots of experience, and Sullinger and Craft are definitely smarter than most freshmen.

2) Pitt - Have cooled off a bit but winning at West Virginia and Villanova without Ashton Gibbs proves to me that they are for real. May be Dixon's year to finally get a championship a la Self in '08.

3) Kansas - Two losses on the year...in retrospect, one occurred the night after a player's mom died, and the other occurred when Jacob Pullen decided to carry K-State into the NCAA's. So no shame in either of those. A lot of talented players. Morris twins are fun to watch even though they are thugs.

4 Final Four Sleepers
1) Louisville - Play awesome team basketball. Far from the most talented team but everyone does what they can to help the team so they are fun to watch. Have to make sure they don't fall off the wagon with Rakeem Buckles tearing his ACL though...

2) North Carolina - They have played MUCH BETTER since kicking Larry Drew off of the team...they look like the team everyone thought they could be at the beginning of the year.

3) St. John's - Easily the hottest team in the country right now, they are definitely dangerous.

4) Vanderbilt - They have a good PG, John Jenkins & Jeffrey Taylor can knock down 3's, and Festus Ezeli is way better than last year. I think this is the year they finally don't choke in the tournament.

Teams That Could Pull A Stunner In The First Round
1) Belmont - They played Tennessee tough both times that they played them this year, and have ran through the Atlantic Sun.

2) College of Charleston - As someone mentioned earlier, Andrew Goudelock can will his team to a 12/5 or 13/4 upset by himself.

3) Oakland - They have a legit NBA Center in Keith Benson and if they play a smaller team in the first round I will definitely pick them in the upset.

4) George Mason - They'll actually likely be a favorite in Round One, but with 5 people shooting over 40% from the 3 point line, I think they have a great shot to make the Sweet 16 with the right draw.

Teams That Won't Make The Second Weekend
1) The Uninspiring Big East MashUp - UConn, Syracuse, Villanova, and Georgetown - Alright...probably one of these 4 will actually make the Sweet 16, but I have no clue who it will be. These teams all have major flaws and I probably won't be picking any of them to the 2nd weekend unless the other teams in their sub-regional are just as uninspiring.

2) Road Worriers - Missouri & Kentucky - Bottom line...you go 1-7 on the road in conference play, there's no way you're making it to the Sweet 16.

3) Texas - They are experiencing another classic Rick Barnes collapse...I think they are ripe to lose in a 7/2 matchup in the 2nd round, a la St. Mary's over Villanova last year when Nova struggled down the stretch.

4) BYU (?) - This is a TBD one...but if BYU seems to struggle without Davies I don't see how they will last very long in the tournament. In my opinion his suspension is a crippling blow for the Jimmers but I'll give them the chance to prove me wrong...

great breakdown.. nailed some of my nuggets

It is Duke's party.

Obviously the tournament comes down to matchups, but their experience is going to be tough to beat. Nolan Smith is a gamer.
