I did not expect a great season but also not as bad as it turned out to be.
I did expect high turnovers, weak half court offense leading to a lot of one on one play and turnovers and blocked shots.
After we started out so poorly I didn't have a lot of confidence. Expected Tech to get tougher, suprised at the fading of Okla St. Very suprised we beat West Virginia.
Expected a lot more from Pellington, also more from Veitenheimer and Madi Williams. Pleasantly suprised at Murcer's development and very pleased to see Ana progress from a spotty freshman year.
Expected better shooting touch from Madi. Still a fair amount of upside there. Has to be smarter on defense but handicaped by having to play the 4.
Taylor Robertson a high basketball IQ. Offense needs to get her open more or make teams pay for face guarding her. She has a quick release and doesn't need a lot of time to get her shot off. Ana's emergence could have been helped by Robertson's presence. Taylor has to continue her progress in scoring other than behind the arc. Ana will always get her shots but also has to be smarter with the fouling.
Once Mercer got to play regularly she made good progress, Excellent shooter and averaged over 7 assists a game in her last 5 games. Don't know what else some of you expect from a point guard. Has to cut down the turnovers but improved a little there too. Definitely athletic enough to play and to play point guard at this level.
Vietenheimer a disapointment. But she is athletic and has some upside.
Lampkin made good progress and I really don't know why she didn't play more. Athletic but raw, but also with unexpected good touch on her shots.
I don't know how anyone can evaluate Williston. We never hear about practices and she got so little game activity. Thought she defended and rebounded pretty good in her limited play.
If we don't have an effective center next year it will be a little better but likely more of the same. High turnovers and a lot of one on one play.
