Here you go...

1. Clark is going to be very, very good.

2. Who would've thought Blair could be a solid Big 12 PG? If we got a transfer who scored 19 with 7 and 5 against Baylor, we'd all be pumped...that's what he did today.

3. Pledger and Fitzgerald are getting quite consistent.

4. Capel can coach...we felt that way a little in year 1, we saw it in year 2 and 3 and it all fell apart last year....I want to be 100% on board but until we can evaluate talent consistently as a staff and then bring 'em in, and then keep 'em here consistently, I'm not entirely sold.

5. That said, college hoops is really a different game than it was even in the Kelvin era. The one-and-done rule is close to ruining the game and it turns recruiting into a patchy deal...you get a guy who is too good and he leaves and it didn't really help your program all that much...and even worse, you get a guy or two who THINK they are too good and they can ruin your program if/when they leave. I think Capel has probably learned his lesson about recruiting but in fairness it's different these days....transfers are up across the nation b/c when a guy doesn't play at place 1 in year 1, he says "I'm outta here".

6. Bottom line, Capel was going to get another year hear even if we were 0-16 in league play...and I would have supported it mainly b/c it would have been hard to get another coach to come in under those circumstances....but seeing what he's doing with this team has to re-energize the fan base (it clearly has) and all we need now is to bring in the target recruits, and have them pan out. If that happens we're back to Kelvin-era level and from there we could hit the jackpot. If he can get 1-2 more Cameron Clarks and keep the other pieces rolling in as well (the Blairs, Davis's, Pledger's and Fitz's), we should have our great program back. Let's hope Osby is as good as advertised and Goff can "Jabahri Brown" it for us!

7. Hey, I'm kind of pumped up about basketball again! Don't expect 8 conference wins or even necessarily 7 but 7 would be great if it happens...

One and done rule will probably be reversed after this season.

Not trying to hi-jakc the thread, but i really hope the NCAA and NBA go to the baseball rule where you can go pro after high school but if not you are in school for 3 years

College coaches prefer the baseball model...David Stern would be stupid to use it though.

I like the 2 year rule...no straight out of high school stuff for me...:chestram2:

I completely agree with this.

don't count on it .. stern has said that the new rule has worked well for the NBA and he doesn't really see a reason to change it. his job is to protect the product in the NBA not college basketball .

1-2 more Cam's is a tall order because I think he's going to be a special player by the time he leaves OU. However, I don't think it will take 1-2 more Cam's anyway...

Yep and if a kid gets drafted from HS but decides to go pro and doesn't hire an agent should be able to stay in college just like in the MLB.

I have been very excited about this win streak. They way they are playing hard on both ends of the floor reflects the good job Capel has done with these guys. However, they probably still have a 4 to 5 game loss streak on the horizon and I just don't want people to make too much of that...like they are of this win streak. They haven't exactly been beating great teams, but the way they are doing it has been uplifting.

4 Big 12 wins is about 3 more than I expected before conference play started....I am so glad I under-estimated Capel and this team. Not that my predictions alone was the motivating factor. haha

I'm hoping for 3 more wins in conference play. With this squad, I think that would be an over-achievement.

Damn proud of the intensity and hustle these guys have played with, and I hope they can keep it up.
