Tips for reducing ACL injuries

I wish that both the basketball and football programs had a vigorous yoga strength and conditioning regimens. I'm convinced that all kinds of injuries would diminish if they did.
 
Lots of people smarter than me have tried to come up with "proven" ways to reduce acl injuries, especially female athletes. Different people have theories about what, why, how, but I have yet to see any conclusive evidence that any one method works.
MY theory is that all that conditioning allows athletes bodies to move with more motion, speed, and explosive power than the body is meant to stand, and more injuries occur because of that.
 
At least a couple of times, MsProud has posted articles by sports physicians who have indicated that the propensity for ACL injuries among females can be reduced with certain types of exercises designed to strengthen the muscles that suppor the knee. About a 30-50% reduction in injuries can be achieved.
