Transfer Portal 2025

I do know she was a Big Oklahoma was looking to get last year before they got Raegan. I still wouldn’t mind having her on OU team. 6’6 post, strong and great hands. OU definitely needs another true post to help Raegan for sure.

I agree, i believe we need to get a solid option for backup 4/5 and we also need a good guard/pg, otherwise we are going to be relying on freshmen or hoping some returnees improve. Picking up 2-3 talented transfers will also help with depth, in the event of unforeseen injuries or transfers out (wouldn't be shocked if someone like KJ left, due to lack in playing time)

Anybody know who we might try to sign either HS or portal. We have a number of scholarships available having only signed 2 HS and 5 super Seniors graduating

It is tough to say. Jennie B's failures in recruiting at the HS level will likely carry over to the portal. OU seems to be lacking in NIL, and nothing she has done will have inspired people to contribute.

What a bundle of joy you are. I guess winning 2 Big 12 championships and being in the Top 10 this year is meh
I never criticized her coaching (though she has a ceiling at OU, due to her recruiting). Her recruiting, or OUs dedication to helping her recruit at a top-level, leaves a lot to be desired.

I suppose it matters who you are comparing her too. 20 years prior to Jennie we had 5 McDonalds All Americans. 4 seasons with Jennie we have 3. The ship wasn't going to turn overnight.

I can tell you like Vic who is 21 years older than Jennie...but don't forget his first head coaching job when he was 80-110 at Sam Houston before going back to being an assistant. If we are lucky, she will stick around long enough to start getting more support for NIL. Mulkey said it herself, what Jennie does with the roster she has is remarkable. When she lands even more talent, look out.
  • Courtney Paris (2005)
  • Ashley Paris (2005)
  • Amanda Thompson (2006)
  • Abi Olajuwon (2006)
  • Madi Williams (2018)
  • Payton Verhulst (2021)
  • Sahara Williams (2023)
  • Raegan Beers (2022)

Yeah, but now money talks. OU had a 5 star LITERALLY 10 minutes from campus, who went to Kansas for money. They had 8 top 100 recruits in the state, and OU got 1.

Now. It is less about relationships, and more about money. Until OU realizes that, in ALL sports, at the AD level, they will continue to struggle recruiting.

Lets not sit here and act like before her injury Keziah wasn’t a 5 star recruit, she was definitely top 20 players in the country in her class until injury cut her down in the rankings big time. Idk if you know how the 5⭐️ work in sports. Keziah was actually ranked higher then Keely Parks while we are talking about 5 stars players. The difference is Keziah injury set her back and Keely was healthy and continued to rise in the rankings.

Yes I have seen them play in person and Keziah is definitely the more athletic and IMO was the better player (when healthy) .

Brooklyn Stewart is a very good 6’3 basketball player. She can score, can play defense and is very coachable kid. She is actually coming from the same basketball organization Raegan Beers played for in Colorado. Brooklyn plays right along with Sienna Betts #2 player in the country in the same organization. Sienna and Brooklyn actually just played each other in the Colorado 6A Semifinals. Brooklyn ended up fouling out late in the 4th quarter. She ended up having 16pts, 10 rebounds and I believe two blocks. Brooklyn team loss to Sienna’s team 35 to 39.
I believe if Brooklyn had not fouled out and been in the game still playing, they could have honestly won that game.

Sienna Betts team went on and put a beating on Legend in the Championship game.

It sounds great to say 8 top 100 recruits, but OU did not want all 8. All 8 were a fit in the Big12 for sure, but the SEC is different. They did miss out on Keeley and that is one of the in state players they wanted...is Keeley worth $ Kansas was willing to pay is yet to be seen. Kansas has done so well the last decade.

Harrod was the only player going to the SEC (Auburn), but now that they are looking for a new coach she has opened up her recruitment again. We'll see how things play out.

I believe Harrod will end up at OSU.

It would be nice to land Harrod, if we're even pursuing her. If we don't land her, and Chavez commits to Texas, or UCLA/South Carolina then we will definitely need to land some talented transfers, which we have the last 2 off-seasons (Verhulst & Beers). IMO we need a backup forward/center as well as 1 or even 2 athletic guards that can shoot. Might be asking too much though. Hopefully we can make it to the Sweet 16 or further and that sparks some interest from transfers to want to play for OU next season!

I don’t recall Brandie Harrod getting a offer from Oklahoma. If she did then I most definitely miss that.

The decision to fund, and also to direct NIL to, basketball is complex complex in today's college world, both for boys and girls. In football, OU gets between 75-80 of its revenue from ticket sales and other in game revenue such as in stadium concessions and advertising. This is true across the larger universities. Just do the math, $125.00 ticket prices, donor contributions on around 68-70 thousand seats, $10 beer etc. The remaining money the football program gets is from TV and Radio.

Basketball is a completely different model, particularly at a place like OU. When we are good, we sell a few more tickets but not significantly so. Even if we sell a million more tickets in a year, those are usually are almost always at near give away ticket prices. Tickets normally aren't that expensive. You can walk up to the ticket office on a game day and buy a lower bowl ticket for $40.00.

Except for the schools that have large mostly sold out gyms on a regular basis (think Kansas and Kentucky), most revenue for the program comes from your share of a conference TV contract share. You get the same amount whether you spend one dollar or 10 million on coaches and/or players. The less your expenses are the more profitable a program like OU is, win or lose. An athletic director wants to win more than any of us, certainly as much as any of us. But, in OU's situation, it makes sense, at least to me, to direct university funds and NIL donors to football (thus keep the stadium full) at least until we are rolling again and can get a new basketball stadium, and perhaps alter the money we can make off of game day ticket income. Naturally, if some big time money person, who just loves basketball and who doesn't support football, and just has lots of play money to burn, the University would love for that person to fund the basketball programs at a different level than what makes sense otherwise. At least this is how I see it, and I think how OU sees it. And, if so, it make sense to me from an economical sense even though I am more of a basketball fan than football fan (love them both).
