I think the fallacy here is the assumption that we don’t need quality bodies. We do. We need experienced and rotation players. The nine we have, barring any sort of injury, are being tasked with going the distance in a rough & tough conference, counting on that is not logical or the best decision.
I understand the notion of feeling like 9 players is enough, but in reality it’s going to be tough no matter who we have. If we were still in the Big 12 that could be a little more realistic but not the SEC, the SEC is another level.
South Carolina added the nations top scorer in Latson and 6’6” Center Okot and will welcome back their dynamic post in Watkins; Watkins/Kitts/Okot/Dauda is an absurd post rotation to contend against with only Beers/Culliton and I guess Stewart, we NEED depth
LSU is bringing in a top recruiting class and a 6’5” transfer post from Notre Dame along with Faujae they’ll be a lot better
Tennessee has the #1 overall recruiting class coming in and has added some quality depth through the portal which will fit their hockey style system which will be better
Texas retooled through the portal and will be right back in conversations and Ole Miss too
It will be TOUGH with only 9, really 8 players, Keziah is still coming back from a major injury & shouldn’t be rushed in her healing.
But hey I do still believe that Chavez/Verhulst/Williams/Beers/& whomever will give us a chance but we have very little to no room for error this season and it’s soo important to add 2/3 more players at least even if it’s not quality, depth is just as if not more important to support our stars.
I’m confident they’ll add and in our coaches but it is frustrating losing out on everyone we know about and struggling to find info about our team. We will see what happens
