Transfer Portal 2027

What are you talking about? He was a starter on a top 5 team. He was vastly improved over his performance at OU.
Vastly? I wouldn't say that at all...and the numbers don't show that either. Los was and is a decent college player...that's it. And I wouldn't have traded him for the PG's we've had since he left.

What? Look at his stats, he was basically the same player. His stats slightly improved, but that's due to him being surrounded by better players. If he vastly improved, how come after his freshman year he was projected to be an end of first round draft pick? And now, he's not projected to be drafted at all? The NBA seems to disagree that he "vastly improved."

Sadly, people don't understand or refuse to accept advanced stats. Los made a huge jump between his last year at OU and his first year at Houston. He didn't take as big a leap this year as I thought he might, but he was still far better than he was here. And I don't think any of us ever said he would be "elite." We said he would be better and that he would help his NBA prospects. No one was suggesting he was going to be a top 10 pick or anything along those lines.

Uzan struggled some this year, but was much better last year. Sometimes good players struggle. They had a lot of new players this year, including two top 10-15 NBA lottery picks as true freshman. They looked a little discombobulated at teams to me, and I think Uzan's stats suffered because of that.

I HOPE any interest we had in him was as a backup, and he wanted a bigger role.

Because as a starter, he's equal to Wague at best, and likely a small step back. I hope we're aiming higher as a starter. Especially if Rogers is coming back.

I mean, not picking up his dribble in the corner and turning the ball over and playing good defense were both huge improvements.

But when good players struggle at OU, it's all due to lack of player development (coaching) and nothing to do with the player. At least that's what you would think if you read the board. BTW, I agree with some of your comments. Again, I wouldn't have traded either Fears or Brown for Los...so it worked out for both parties in his situation.

Did you watch him play for Houston or just know that he started for a top 5 team? I didnt say he was terrible, i said he didnt turn into a bona fide star that some were projecting once he got better coaching. He was solid and had some good games, but he also disappeared at times and as a veteran on a top five team, you can’t disappear when your team needs your veteran leadership. He was a solid defender and again could hit some shots off and on, but basically lost the starting point guard position to a true freshman. You could chalk him up to just getting better for being in college for four years compared to really improving under different leadership.

Can you throw some of those advanced stats out showing he was vastly improved?

It's not as simple at just looking at them thru the same lense.

Different schedule difficulties.
Different roles on various teams.

Kelvin has a much better track record of late than does Moser. So I'm not going to feel about not calling it "coaching" when Uzan struggles for a season there. Houston has been sending guys to the league at a high rate. Moser for the most part has been having guys underachieve and transfer out. Those are the trends.

Yep, at OU Moser hasn’t coached a single player more than 2 years (if what I read was correct). That’s an insane stat.

Milos Uzan 4 years (per40 numbers):

First year at Houston was his best year by far. Took a big step back this year.

It would be an insane stat in the pre-portal days for sure, but not so much these days. When 3k are in the portal, that says a lot. What was the crazy stat that was mentioned recently...like 2 seniors in the SEC actually graduated from the school they started at? That's insane and makes it hard to form any coach to implement much culture or continuity. Purdue is one school that has done a outstanding job of retention. 8 of their top 9 players in their rotation have only played at Purdue. That's pretty remarkable in the current environment, but that's ONE school. Not many others like that. Heck Michigan's 5 starters were all portal additions.

His numbers regressed in almost every way from his senior year to his time at ou. Aside from TOs, fouls, he pretty much was better or the same at everything as an underclassman at ou.
Can you read? His offensive rating skyrocketed. His win shares more than doubled. Points per 100 possessions way up. Offensive and defensive plus/minus far better. Turnovers way down.
