Transfer Portal 2027

Really going to be frustrated if we go cheap at center yet again, I understand we need scoring... but based off the portal, there are so many guards entering. Not many bigs, so if we are going to get a quality big we are going to have to spend.
from lusks notes .. (and comments that likely come from the staff (or someone connected to it) ) it is clear that OU was not really realistic with what the portal market acutally is ..

the top 20-30 bball teams are all going to spend over 20 mil .. and starting level P5 players is going to cost a lot up .. and centers even more

This puts even more of a premium on good coaching for a school like OU, which is terrible news for us.

I would love a legit "BIG" but at this point hopefully we can get a long freak athlete that can defend. Pair him up with Rogers for cheap ish.

Spend money on a 4 man.

Guards
Brown
TO Barrett/Castillo would be nice or one of the better KSU dudes.
Forsythe
add a cheap backup shooter

WIngs
Reid and incoming Freshman or cheap wing shooter.

Desean Goode can shoot the rock! Hit 57% from 3 this year...on 63 attempts. Started the season hitting 12 of his first 13 3's. :ROFLMAO: Talk about a vast contrast between him and Tae...

oswin reportedly got 2.8ish mil from Creighton.

Do we love Goode? Is he going to be wanted by most programs? Seems like he may be an upgrade offensively at the 4 spot, but he's not a better athlete is he? Better defender?

Yep, sure glad we opted for the "let's pray we can be competitive with our NIL and stick with Bozo the coach for another year." Lusk and his cronies already starting with the excuses is also hilarious.

Aka...Lucas McKay. Lol

for those that scoff at this number ..

if OU was able to be at 15 mil for next season (which is what i expect the entire top half of the SEC to be at or around)

that is 2 mil per starter average 750 per next 5 average .. and 250k for the bottom 5 on the roster ..

that is not crazy in any way ..

I'd guess he probably was surprised to find out how poorly run our program is. On the other hand, maybe he realized it and feels like he can help. Either way, I am sick of OU acting like we are broke or can't come up with NIL for men's basketball. It's lame. But it's also lame that our coach can't coach the talent he does have.

He's definitely not as athletic as Davis. However he appears to be a better scorer. Hard to tell how he would translate to the SEC. Knocks down shots, but release is slow. Keeps the ball high down low and not fancy with layups.

OU leadership failed to realize that they can't rely solely on the OU Brand. And this is across the board, not just Joe C. Hopefully this is the start of a new era. Jordan brand and Trae Young Assistant GM were just gimmicks that the university thought kids would fall in love with.

Seriously thinking about dropping my fandom for college basketball, including OU. Love amateur basketball and don't mind kids making a little money but it is getting absurd. Not sure I can even make myself care or watch it anymore.

I am in favor of hiring the best coach $150k will buy, the the best assistants $75K will buy, and the best kids we can get for a scholarship and $3k a month and free health insurance, and then would be happy to live with however many wins that would get us, if any. I would be very understanding of a the team was unable to compete with most college teams. Any revenue generated over total costs, I would want turned over to the school to support a reduction in tuition for all students.

If there are donors that like basketball to finance additional money towards coaches salary and NIL money for players then that would be fine with me. I just oppose the school participating in the absurdity of a public university spending millions of dollars for the benefit of coaches and knothead kids between the ages of 18 and 22. Sports are an extracurricular activity and not the purpose of the University. The University should not be paying coaches, and certainly not players, more than tenured professors at the University. If they are good enough to make money playing a sport, and are good enough to do it, then they should go pro.

Non revenue sports should be made to be club sports or be operated within the revenue that sport generates, along with any money donors are willing to donate to that team.

As for football, if the university can generate tens of millions of dollars fielding a football team, and has donors willing to spend the millions to make it competitive, then fine. But, the revenue generated should be put back into the University for its educational purposes and not used to make the coaches and best players the highest paid humans working in Oklahoma. If donors want to win bad enough to pay for coaches to make hundreds of times what teachers, policemen and most professionals make, then so be it. The University should not be doing it IMO.

Minority opinion, I know.
