turns out players don't want to play for a lame duck coach .. if they can get comparable offers elsewhere .. ie.. OU needs to overpay to get anyone iof note
Maybe, but this would be more incentive for X and his dad to leave now. Brown plays somewhere else for one year, gets an equivalent bag, and his dad is coaching for an established coach and has a 2-3 year deal in place. Since players are free agents every offseason, I'm not sure if being a lame duck coach matters or not.

I don’t know why lame duck coach matters as much these days. It’s not like they are stuck here if he gets fired.
Fair point but I imagine they still just see the overall state of the program and realize that we are coming off another very disappointing season and yet didn't decide to move on from the guy who has been leading us downhill for five years.

Typing that sentence really made me think how wild it is that this guy is still our coach. I mean, at the time of the last coaching search, if someone had said that whoever we hired would make one tourney in five years (thanks to a final-week surge), win zero tourney games, lose two-thirds of his conference games, and be below .500 in Q1-Q3 games . . . no one would have thought that possible, let alone that said coach would be brought back for a sixth season.

this is the death nell for all crappy coaches. when good players refuse to play for them.
happened to jeff crapel....it's happening to crup moser
kinda reminds me of the scene in pretty woman where jr has a wad of cash but the store won't sell her anything:)

Who is the “big” we allegedly signed. Did I miss the announcement.

While I agree with this statement, I would have agreed a lot more 5 years ago. Now? 90% of these players are at their new place for a year then chasing the next bag.
Lame duck shouldn't matter like it use to.

42.5% career 3pt% is nice! FT % leave something to be desired though, although he averages less than 1 FT per game.

**Correction** this season he did average over 1 FT per game.
I guess we’ll have to live with a guy who gets fouled shooting a three every third game instead of every game.
