Transfer Portal 2027

I'm not panicking over 8-10 dudes. Not many teams are playing more than 8 guys. It would be nice, but Porter has never done that. You need 10 legit guys that can play/practice plus the 1-2 walk ons or low end scholarship guys that are there for practices and blowouts.

I'd rather have 8 really solid guys and pay them... risk it and don't pay guys 9-12.

pay the ga's and let them be the practice bodies.
i'm sure rashard can still play a little.

the 10 right now (if you believe the C thing ) includes a RS and true frosh and we have 0 idea if either can play at all .

so that leaves 8 which includes 2 Centers that won't really ever play together ..

so that leaves 6 guys for 4 spots ..

1 injury leaves them very very thin

I wouldn't hate 11 with Mayfield. I don't think there is a reason to go over that.

Looks like last year we had 11 with Rogers, Blair, and Holst. So three freshman. We'd only have one freshman this year. 11 means you don't have to rely on Mayfield, but if he is good enough, there is room to play him.

I'm fine if that balloons to 12 or MAYBE 13 if we find some cheap, project type or specialty player (3 point shooter, defender, etc).

if the 5 for 5 passes ..next month the Center could be a Sr from this year
I'm all for 5 to play 5, but it shouldn't be retro-actively applied. If somebody's eligibility is up during this fiscal year, a rule passed for NEXT fiscal year should only apply to those having eligibility in the next year. IMO.

But that would be on point for OU to be hoping for a rule change to land a player like this.

i think that if 5 for 5 passes this years seniors (4th year) will 100% be allowed another season

Perfectly okay leaving a spot or two for 5 for 5. Huge value there. But can’t bank on it

Weird post from Bob is weird..

Here is a hint about the mystery center that actually doesn't help at all: No coach is following this guy on social media so you cannot deduce from the 'follow the follows' theory that you know I love.

There is sooooo much confidence, though. Damage control might be too strong of a term, but after Barrett/Riley/Reece/Sykes in like a five-hour period, the OU sources came out in droves to say it's completely OK. Pump the brakes, no panic here.
OU sources also said Moser should get another year..................just sayin.

We started the year with the five starters, plus

Dayton
Jones
Jeff N
Kai
Blair

Holst (they likely knew he was redshirting)

Walkons/scrubs/practice players

Then immediately lost Blair and replaced him with Kirill.

So basically we had 10 guys who all actually played, plus a "scholarship" guy in Holst who they viewed as a real player, plus at least three other guys who could at least serve as live bodies in practice.
Holst had to redshirt, his VISA never allowed him to be eligible. One thing that people don't realize is the internationals can't receive NIL payments.

Technically, they can't earn money in the United States per the VISA granted by the United States. But guys can earn money outside of the country. I think Oscar Tshiebwe did a bunch of stuff for NIL adjacent to Kentucky's summer trip to the Bahamas.

“Porter has never done that” and we see how well that’s worked out.

I think hoping for the best is fine, as long as it is based in reality. Luke was pretty clearly never going to amount to anything other than a guy who might have three or four games a year where he made two or three 3s, but was otherwise a negative because of his defense and lack of athleticism.
Some people have the drive and some people don't. Sometimes the drive clicks a little later than others, and sometimes not at all. I feel it is what is missing for him. Oh well.

He just isn't very good. There is a reason almost no D-1 schools recruited him even though he is tall and a decent shooter. I don't say that to be mean, it's just reality. He has height and one skill but is otherwise very limited.
