Transfer Portal 2027

Remember when basketball was fun and information was not filled with charts and analysis.

I actually find the game a lot more fun when I can see why things are happening on the court. I do this for a living, so I enjoy the deep dive, and clearly, the team does too since we finally hired a GM to handle exactly this. Advanced metrics have been the backbone of every sport for a long time now. It’s a weird take to pretend they dont exist or you don't want them to exist.

If you’re not a numbers guy, feel free to skip my posts, but I’m going to keep digging in.

I just let AI put together a full on slideshow for a presentation I have with two other people at work tomorrow.

Needless to say, I'm glad I have a masters in Business Analytics and Data Science. AI is getting a little too good.
I use it more than I want my clients to know about... my ideas, but its implementation

Something to keep in mind and maybe temper our expectations just a bit?

I bumped up Gak's multiplier because of the G-League.

Remove his Cairns season and it looks a bit more comparable:

I think Alabama Wague and Gak are pretty comparable:

There’s no way a guy getting 17 minutes a night in the GLeague is comparable to a back up big on an SEC team. I’m sorry but the model is broken in this regard.

I'm with you 100%. I enjoy the analytics and the metrics of basketball at this point.

Kind of an interesting use case with Kon vs Cooper. All the metrics favored Kon but Cooper won PRA. The fact Kon was that close (he basically lost it because of the play-in game) shows the game is gearing more towards analytics and those metrics than ever before.

YEP. I'm diving more into Claude to try to automate some of these manual tasks we have here. It's wild the stuff it can do.

It's all about the prompt you use for it.

Totally fair. I just don't know how to properly translate G-League down. Should I bump up the multiplier to make him ungodly good for out team? I don't have a good comparison right now. Maybe I will look into last years G-League to NCAA players and try to match that. Give me some time.

I will say, the numbers projected he would be better than he was, which was true at OU. He just needed to not foul as much.

Also, here is the contact list and our guys we have. Jalen Washington would be...very much a yes.

Yeah. Washington would be a massive get. He'll have one more year, right?

Not to muddy the thread down, (sorry all), I am using Claude for this app, another betting app that I am going to monetize, a book series, and a small side business for my wife. It is amazing all that it can do if you know how to prompt it correctly.

Bingo. I know people hate Twitter (I'm not calling it X). But man, the amount of resources some of the people on there put out is wild for AI.

Objectively speaking, I think top tier SEC teams are likely comparable to G-League teams.

Impossible to know how talent level impacts output. He clearly has all of the physical tools to be a great college player. He's playing against guys every night who were very good college players and are now in professional environments. I do worry about the lack of consistent production in the G-League but wonder how much of that was true opportunity vs. lack of capability.

Brody compared gak favorably to bediako at Alabama this year, who ended up around 10&5 for the tide... I was under the impression if the 5x5 rules aren't retroactively applied then Washington would be out of eligibility..

That's what I was afraid of. I believe the head of the NCAA said so yesterday. GAWD he sucks.

If that is the case, Bediako was decent coming out of Alabama, using his best G-League year before he was comparable.

Grain of salt, he did only play 5 games with Bama this last year, BUT, he played solid competition.
