A big problem this season and largely over time are turnovers.

Ten of the top teams in the country average 13 turnovers a game with Maryland the highest at 15.3 and Oregon State at 10.3.

We have averaged 20 per game. In other words we have 7 less opportunities to score per game than our opponents. We hit 42.7% of our shots. That converts to 3 baskets a game. Approximately one in 3 shots we take in a game is behind the arc. So that would amount to 7 points a game if we took car of the ball as well as top teams. That alone would have secured wins against UAB and New Mexico.

I feel that even more points are available if we stop shooting shots under extreme pressure and a fair number that should have not been attempted under any circumstances other than the clock running out. We do not get as many open shots as the better teams get. That may have some effect on the bad passes and ill advised shoots.

Clearly, this team has to play with more discipline or we may not win another game this season.

I agree. There are so many times we really have opportunities to get back into games or even take leads after a big run but we shoot ourselves in the foot time and time again and eventually lose. I think we would definitely have won the two previously mentioned games, in addition to a couple maybe three big 12 games if we were more disciplined with the ball. Ellington's biggest problem is she does not have a good shot. Her form is completely off and apparently none of the coaches have fixed it or even tried to, so knowing this she just drives down under the basket and then proceeds with turning the ball over, and over and over and over... All of our players are turnover-prone, not just her. When this is the case doesn't it rest on the coaches? I refuse to believe the fact that we are young is the reason in itself that we throw the ball away so much... This team is only going to get better if they dig deep and value each possession. The players individually are only going to get better if they discipline themselves during this offseason and work on their games individually... It's obviously clear at this point, they cannot rely on the coaching staff to help them get better.. just doesn't happen under SC. I think SC is a coach that probably would be very successful with a great group of athletic talented girls, elite players. But with lower caliber athletes, she's not got it in her anymore....

These girls have played 23 games. They are not truly freshmen any longer.

True Dat, Spock. TV is making the same dumb passes she did the first game she played. Jess is somewhat better, probably only because she dribbles more than she passes.

Our passes into the post are just as bad as they have been for 20 years.

All of this tells me is poor players, poor coaching or both. I lean toward both.
