I\Has he been sick? Not playing well?:neal
The upgrade in the level of competition the conference season brought has stymied Tyler and I am not certain he can play his way out of it as his minutes decrease. No question his confidence is waining.
Tyler just doesn't look like a division 1 player.
That is a silly statement. Tyler is very good and would be a star on many if not most D-1 teams. There are over 300 D-1 teams. You are basing your opinion on the top 30% of D-1 teams rather than the entire universe of D-1 teams.
Stacy King did very little at OU his first two seasons. Stacy King averaged 6 points a game his freshman season and 7 a game his sophomore season. This was during a time period when OU was averaging about 90 points a game compared to 75 now.
I am not saying Neal will explode like King did but have some faith in the kid. He is working hard and contributing.

I'm sorry but right now Neal would not be a star on many or most D1 schools right now. Only team in the big 12 he could start for is Texas Tech and thats nothing to brag about b/c he didn't look good against them.
As for Stacy King..lets not say his name and Tyler Neal's name in the same sentence.
The worst thing about Tyler is that right now he is caught between being a 3 and a 4...and in college basketball thats more of a bad thing than a good thing. He can't take people off the dribble "right now" where in conference play, you really need that ability from your wings. But tyler is better suited for guarding the 3 than he is guarding post players. He's not good at posting up. He needs to add to his offense...right now it consists mostly of shooting 3's.
This offseason he needs to work on his ability to get to the rim and create separation from his defender.

haha, gotcha. Over 300 DI teams in America and he couldn't play for any of them. Clown statement.
I like Tyler Neal, but with what we have coming in next season I'd like to see the kid get an opportunity to redshirt. Is he even 19 yet? If so its barely.
What good would that do? Tyler's biggest problem is that he doesn't have a position. He is too slow, and not skilled enough to play the 3 effectively. And he isn't really big/strong enough to play the 4. In a perfect world, he'd be a zone buster off the bench at either the 3/4 position, for every limited minutes. A guy you bring in to knock down open shots. Problem is, even moreso than Pledger, Neal has a hard time getting open looks for himself. And with Grooms and Cam struggling, and nearly all of Neal's minutes coming at the 3 against quicker guys, he is struggling to get anything resembling an open look most games.
I dunno, but an entire year to work on primarily the things you listed might be helpful, particularly given that he is the same age as many incoming freshmen. Plus he is the kind of kid I like having in the program setting an example for other players off the court. I guess I just don't see him as a "finished product" but instead see a 19 year old with plenty of upside that could help this program in the long run. Tyler Neal as a 22 year old graduated Senior has an opportunity to be much better than as a 19 year old Sophomore. JMHO.
