In all seriousness I thought he was a bit young to not redshirt but there you go, glad he is getting quality playing time. I think he will be a good solid player for us the rest of his time here.

He's been a nice surpise, hope he can have some nice impact in close games and contribute in somes wins over the last few games this year.

I love his potential...but his statistics does not show just how bad he is on defense. He can't guard anyone right now. Thats great that he's averaging 8.7 ppg over the last couple of games but he is giving up more than that. And his rebounds are not physical rebounds....they are the ones that fall into his hands w/ no one around. The kid can put points on the boad in numerous ways but he is still a work in progress. I expect him to develop into a good maybe even a very good player at OU but lets not get ahead of ourselves when it comes to saying he deserves more minutes. His minutes will double next year but right now his minutes are just fine.

Theres no doubt that this kid has a high ceiling.

I see him get ripped on here for defense a lot, but never really notice it out on the court. Who has abused him? What is he not doing right on defense? I really havent noticed that he sucks on defense.

I agree, and he's working hard to rebound which is something Fitz needs to do.

If his rebounding is lucky (just fall into his hands), OU has some very unlucky rebounders on its teams. Personally, I don't think that is a very fair comment. If he gets the rebound, he gets the rebound. Over the same three games Fitzgerald is averaging 4 rebounds per game in substantially more minutes. Why can't Fitzgerald get non-physical rebounds?

Luck favors the prepared! I have seen him loose track of his man on occasion but that is an offense almost all of our guys are guilty of. He will get better we just have to give him time.

If he gets posted up on defense by a big defender he really has issues with it. He really needs to work on his strength if he is going to become a full time 4. He also lacks the quickness when covering 3s. It isn't that worse then anyone else on the team but you can tell he's a freshman who is in between positions on defense.

I think its one of the reasons that during the winning streak we only saw him 4.8 minutes a game. Not saying he is the reason we lost these past 3, just that when the games are closer he doesn't get near the amount of minutes and his defense could very well be factor in that.

the good news is most 17 year olds have a nice upside. they can still grow both in height and into a mans body with more muscle.

That is why I have high expectations for him a JR and SR, Anything he gives us a Freshman and Sophomore is purely bonus to me.

I dont see him getting ripped...but in the couple of games i have watched he picks up fouls in bunches...just bad position and isnt real aware of what he can and cant get away with at this level yet...

We are going no where this year. He should start getting more minutes. Take them from Davis and Pleg. Rotate those 2.

It's because his foot speed is still a little slow and he not very strong so he fouls or gets beat by his man. It's not because he's out of position or plays bad defense. It goes along with what a lot of posters have been saying and I agree, add foot speed and strenth and he'll be a really good player.
