Who is the starting small forward at OU next year... Tyler Neal or Cameron Clark?

Through 8 games
Cam Clark: 5.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 30% from 3, 40% FT's, 27 minutes
Tyler Neal: 5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 33% from 3, 90% FT's, 11.5 minutes

Exactly what I've been complaining about. Clark hasn't earned the opportunity to play all the minutes he's played this year. Why hasn't Neal gotten minutes at the small forward position? It appears certain players aren't required to perform to justify minutes. Why not try going big with Neal, Fitz and Thompson?

For some reason I think Osby is going to have a Joey Graham type of role... Very athletic, can shoot, but in college better at doing those types of things from the PF spot..

Maybe im wrong, but I just dont see Osby being a 6'8'' 235 pound perimeter player. You just RARELY ever see that in college basketball.

Neal has looked the most confident out there, but I think Clark has the highest upside. Perhaps Capel is looking ahead?

I still think Neal should be seeing more minutes. At least 50/50 with Clark...

I worry about Neal staying with quick 3s on the perimeter. I think his future is in the weight room and in the low post.

Has he even played any 3 this year except for maybe a little vs Texas Southern in garbage time? I don't seem to recall any.

Osby is not going to play most of his time at the 3...get used to that idea now.

Theres no way I would vote for Neal over Osby.
I have a feeling that we will be in a BAYLOR zone next season. So far we will have Osby, Neal, Fitzgerald, Goff, Thompson, Washington, and Honore for next year. Neal, Osby, Thompson and Clark can all play the 3. Also, Capel seems to be going after another post player in Jurick. We should at least have quality scoring and rebounding in the paint.

I know Clark is struggling, but lets not write him off just yet...He is our future. Neal needs to work on his defense.

Why is Clark the future and not Neal? What has Clark shown on the basketball court (high school or college) that makes him so much better than Neal?

Neal is equally athletic (and was voted best athlete or 2nd best athlete behind Osby by teammates), a better shooter, similar size (both around 6'6''), etc.

Until Cameron Clark shows me he can dribble a basketball and be effective I see no reason to label him "the future".

Neal might be getting more points per minute than clark but he's also giving up a lot more to the opposite team. Clark plays better defense.

I don't want to downgrade Neal...I like Neal and I think he can be something special. But Clark is hustling on both ends and looks more comfortable out there. His shots just arent falling. But I like it. Neal Clark and Osby will have to earn their playing time along with everyone else on the roster. If we can just land that Guerrero kid, we would have competition for the PG spot was well.

Why is there a versus thread about two guys on the same team?

Both are long, lean and pretty athletic. I like them both for the long run. Both are very rough at the moment with a number of things to work on. I don't think it ultimately has to be an either or situation. Clark will ultimately be a 2 in my opinion.

Jurick or another post player would be good, but we must get a true point in order to make any substantial improvement. We could get by maybe with goff, osby, fitz, thompson, and in a pinch, neal, inside next year. I just can't see Newell being ready for the point by next year, his handles are just not far enough along. Count me in the camp that just doesn't see Blair ever being good enough. I would love for Blair to prove me wrong, and he just might.
