Has a chance to be an outstanding college player. Next year he shouldn't have to guard the 4 and he should be stronger. With his shooting ability and the valuable experience he's gaining this year he has a shot. I thought he did a great job last night of being aggressive, rebounding, and being strong with the ball. Yes, he got abused on the block a couple of times, but that's understandable. He did a good job of blocking out and getting some tough rebounds also.

He is really showing some flashes of skill isn't he. As for what his ceiling is, we'll just have to see if he continues to do the things necessary to climb the ladder.

I am really starting to see some upside to Clark, Neal and Newell. Maybe next year, if not, then the one after that.

He's gotta play the 3 to be effective defensively. I feel bad watching him get demolished on the block.

I felt bad for him too...I felt bad for everyone when that JUCO from Brazil came into the game. As for his game, has he even turned 18 yet? If so, he is barely 18. He took a little heat on here, but three years from now that kid might be a dang solid player. You get Blair, Cam, Neal, Osby and Fitz out there together, you start to have pretty tall line-up across the board (excepting Blair, but that kid is starting to impress me more and more).

Tyler could easily add 10-15 lbs by next season. I wouldn't feel to badly for him. He is taking his lumps this year, but by next season, at 225lbs...could be a tough matchup for a lot of guys.

That's the just the thing, he has a good frame to pack on a little bit of muscle/weight to. I think he can be deceivingly quick too. Haven't I heard before that he can jump a little bit too?

I'm no talent judge (I'll defer to Sam on that, lol) but watching him play he seems very athletic to me. He had that nice dunk in Bedlam (although the scream afterwards was a  moment) and he's made some nice moves in home games as well. I thought he was overwhelmed in the Texas game but I'm pretty sure 90% of teams in the country are overwhelmed by Texas this year.

This is what bites me off about the coaching staff. Some of the criticism about Capel is way off, but the fact that he rolls his eyes and some pretty good instate talent brings my pressure up. Tyler Neal, Cade Davis, and David Godbold are no stars, but they are support players and worthy of playing time on most rosters. Tyler Neal as a freshman is better than Ray Willis, Kyle Cannon, Neysmith, and Allen right now. Edmond has a kid that who is a top notch athlete and will be a nice player in Josh Richardson, and OU is not even thinking about him. Now the kid is the hottest prospect in the country. He could have built some continuity with these kids and then went after the highly regarded players that he covets.

Theres no doubt in my mind that they are aware of who Richardson is and I don't have any solid evidence but I would bet that Capel and his staff has scouted the in-state players and they might just not like what they see. Capel has gone after several in-state players other than just the ones who have committed too us.

I also think that Capel has been working really hard on the 2012 class and is in on several players who are way better than Richardson and co. Since we are limited on scholarships for that class...your asking him to take a chance on a back-up instead of getting a star. The question is??? if Capel strikes out on all of these players he is after in the 2012 class, will he not be able to bring in someone who is at least equal to the talent Richardson is?

Also, With Clark, Pledger, and Newell getting most of the minutes at the 2 spot and Clark, Osby and Neal getting the majority of the minutes at the 3...It seems to me that Richardson wouldn't come in and contribute right away so it seems more logical for Capel to hold off on giving Richardson a scholarship and give it to a PG and C for this class and try to strike gold in the following class.

Neal reminds me a little bit of Ryan Minor his frosh year. Minor wasn't as accurate on his 3 as a frosh as Neal has been at times, but Minor was more physical, which is the biggest difference besides the hair of course. :ez-laugh:

I think Richardson will be a Sooner.

Really? What are you hearing?

Give me jurick, Cesar, Richardson and goff and I'll be pleased.. We do have 3 schollies left right? Assuming we part ways with hardrick..

I could not agree more.

Even though I was and still am a big Ray Willis fan, I've always been one to err toward the local kid. If Kid A from so and so Oklahoma is putting up 22 and 10 in high school and Kid B from the east coast is putting up 23 and 11 I'd pursue the local kid vigorously. National recruiting is only for the super powers of our game, and we should pursue that path with EXTREME caution. Secure the home front. Oklahoma and Texas kids should get more looks from us than the rest of the country put together.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the three greatest players in the history of our program (Tisdale, Griffin, Adams) all played their high school ball in the state of Oklahoma. I don't think it's a coincidence that four of the five 2,000 point scorers in the history of our program (Tisdale, Kennedy, Webster, King) played their high school ball in the state of Oklahoma. Secure the home front!

Tyler Neal was a fantastic signing, and hopefully his progress helps to instill the virtues of Oklahoma HS basketball to this coaching staff.

Don't forget...the career 3 point record holder and assists record holder (for a career) at OU is Terry Evans, also from Oklahoma.

This is a question based on a complete lack of knowledge of recruiting. It seems that coaches whould have more knowledge about Oklahoma kids than national recruits. Is it possible that sometimes coaches don't actively recruit local kids because they have more info about thiese kids and some of it is conflicting? Are we more likely to hear about the issues the local kids might have than kids who live 1,00 miles away? Are coaches reluctant to take non-superstar kids because they worry that the local kids parents might be in their office every time they turn around?

I've always wondered about these things and didn't know if they came into play or not.

Ryan Minor is also from Oklahoma. He may not be Tisdale, Griffin and Adams good but he was darn good.

04, how is that possible?
I liked his offensive game. I adore guys, doesn't matter who they are, who can score in the mid-range. Couple dribbles underneath the line and a quick pull-up jumper. Ray could do that, I could see it in his second game here, and I was beside myself waiting to see how he'd develop.

But alas......
