Tyrone Jones

Jones is just local kid that OUHoops.com is trying to help get some looks. We've been trying to cover just Oklahoma kids more lately because as far as recruiting coverage, Oklahoma kids haven't received the best representation in the past online.

If he's as good a player as the original Tyrone Jones then we need to sign him.

What sort of player was Jones at OU? I unfortunately don't remember watching him play and he doesn't get talked about much around here...

Tyrone was a great shooter for Tubbs. Around 6'6" and was a decent ballhandler but absolutely could nail it from deep.

I was just a little surprised that we landed him, personally. I had him in a couple of classes up here & he talked about Vegas a LOT. Good guy (who made a good decision :D) though.

Original Tyrone was a Juco from Wash D.C. (Dunbar) who played in 1988 and 1989. He had some high games (30 or more points) a few times.

Tyrone now lives back in D.C. and is 45 years old. I doubt he's related to the kid from OKC. Kid has good hops. 1988 Tyrone was a dead-eye long range shooter.

I remember playing a couple of Huffman pick up games with him. Stacey was usually on his team.

If memory serves, Tyrone hit a long jumper at the buzzer to beat Iowa State in the semifinals of the '89 Big 8 Tournament.
