reminded me of this

Was that seriously only 3 years ago? Remember being so excited at that time.

That team was fun to watch. There was Blake and then there were so many other guys who played their roles so well.

That Syracuse game was a fun night though. Remember it like it was yesterday. It was the 6 p.m. game that night and it was over by 6:45.

Remember how totally cold we were in the next game!

Man I wish we were still in the same zip code as Syracuse...

True. And what's crazy is that OU still gave North Carolina a tougher challenge than most of the teams the Heels played that tournament... They were very dominant that postseason.

I still think we were one of the four best teams that season, just got an unlucky draw (facing UNC before the Final 4) primarily due to an unlucky circumstance (playing without Blake during that huge two-game stretch with Texas and KU).

It's frustrating to think what could have been that year. We just weren't the same after Blake got hurt against Texas. We were 25-1, 11-0 in the Big 12, and ranked #2 before that game. Then we had to play KU two days later without Blake and missed our chance to finally give them a beatdown. We finished the conference 2-3 and lost our first Big 12 tourney game to OSU. We did come back to play a solid game against Michigan and then smoked Syracuse, but the way that season started we were definitely a Final Four team. Unfortunately the bad finish put us in the same region as the best team in the country.

Wasn't the losses to UT or KU that gave up the #1 seed, was the loss to OSU in the Big XII tournament.

If we win both games (plausible) or 1/2 of those games (even more plausible), the chance of getting a 1 seed and/or not being paired with UNC would have significantly increased. And that's taking into account the loss to OSU, who was also a tournament team and a team OU had swept in the regular season... And it's always difficult beating a good team 3 times in a row in the same season.

True, although if Blake doesnt get the concussion and we beat either Texas or Kansas, or both, we dont play OSU back to back. That was some bad luck to lose blake and then have to play OSU of all teams in the 1st round.

Would have been incredible to get the #1 seed in the big 12 tourney, go deep or win the big 12 tourney in OKC, then get a #1 seed in the NCAA and go to the final 4 or face UNC in the national champioship game instead of the Elite 8.

That would have put our record at 34-7 instead of 30-7 and things might have gone differently in recruiting and we might not be 4-12 again this year.

Meh. Even losing against UNC I had a blast that year. Unfortunately, the only players we have that would even sniff playing time for that team are Osby and Pledge...

I think Fitz would give a few quality minutes to spell Blake, Taylor, and Patillo. He would have gotten Orlando Allen's 5 Minutes a game. Not much but still something

We had 3 MCDAA's on the team post Blake... not sure it was the lack of talent on the team that caused the train wreck.
