We have a bench!!!

Walker has skills, but he gets too happy with the ball, pushing ugly shots or turning it over.

Walker and Booker are solid. Lattin is the perfect spark plug big. Bennett is a very servicable 4th big. A very solid 9 deep for the first time since Kelvin's last good squad.

The bench was one of the problems tonight. No production on offensive end. Thought Lattin sparked us a bit on D with his blocks in the 2nd half.

We don't quite have a bench. We have part of a bench but our style of play dictates we rotate
10-11 guys. If we weren't playing such hard defense, I'd say yes, we can get by with nine. But when you try to smother and the refs are calling it tight you need that extra one or two guys so the starters don't land in foul trouble and lose their aggressiveness.

Either one of the walk ons gets in the rotation early or take the shirt off McNeace so he can supply some shot blocking and foul duty.

The bench was 2-12 last night.

In my defense, I made the post at halftime. The bench was not utilized much or very effectively in the second half imo.

I was very impressed with Walker and his composure (his 3 looked good as well). Booker had an off game last night but looks leaner this year and I have little doubt about his effectiveness as a Big 12 guard. Lattin looks like a stud in the making and adds quite a spark. He reminds me of Johnny Gilbert coming off the bench in years past. DJ Bennett is an upgrade 4th post player (which is where he will be soon).

I think scoring will mainly come from Booker and Walker. Lattin and Bennett can both rebound and block shots and I think Lattin will develop into a decent scorer.

I think the bench is really a strength compared to recent years and will help us stay in/win games.
