If Capel is allowed to come back next year, he needs to hire Hill and take money out of his own pocket to entice Hill to take the job. I know it sounds ridiculous but Capel needs somebody like Hill who can get talent and then he needs somebody who can coach them up.

This sounds dumb, but if Capel wants to save his job, he should offer Hill close to a million a year (whatever the U will pay, which is probably about 200K and Capel supplements 800K) and then try to get a good teacher of the game for another 300-500K and that leaves Capel a smooth 800K to live on and for his sake keep his job.

dalonte need to be the man. capel had his shot. dalont will bring in good assistants with connections to the ballers. todd mayo is one and thomas gibson aka beast mode

As I said in another post on here, I think Hill would be a bad idea. With the probation under KS and the controversy surrounding Tiny, a coach that has smoke around him due to his AAU ties wouldn't be an ideal pick-up for OU.

I don't think he's worth the risk. OU can get another coach without having to take the possible risk that Hill would present.

I'm not ready to hand the program over to a Dalonte Hill as he's never been more than an AAU coach and we know AAU is filled with the scum of basketball.

I'd take him as an asst coach with the caveat if he cheats he's fired immediately. If he would accept the position under these circumstances then I say hire him and let Capel administer things. Then hire an X's and O's coach, again, pay him big money, too, and then maybe Capel can succeed.

If they fire Capel and hire Dalonte Hill then whoever makes that decision should be placed in front of a firing line or put in the electric chair. That would be a colossally stupid decision.

Agreed, no thanks.

Agree with this. I do not know enough about OUr assistants to comment on thier coaching aptitude and this seasons mess makes it hard to since this is thier first year in a funky situation. Good assistants that know what they are doing paired with established recruiting ties would go a long way in supporting Capel's rebuilding efforts and its troubling that Capel does not seem to have that. Is the problem we could not find anyone last year that wanted the job or was Capel not allowed to bring in some established quality coaches? Either way it is a tad worrisome.

The big complaint from KSU fans, from what I've read, is that Hill isn't really bringing in the DC talent as frequently as they were expecting.

Hill is going to eventually wear out that large salary...he will be forced to take a head job or work for less money. In college basketball, it is very difficult to pay a premium to the amount KSU is paying Hill.

I was told by a more reputable poster on here that someone posted last spring Capel had a bigger name asst coach but he wanted a 2 year contract and Joe C said it could only be a 1 year. Therefore Capel ended up with the guys he hired.

this thread is funny. hill is a much better "coach", and no where near the recruiter that he is portrayed to be in this thread.

as far as i'm concerned, if you want him, y'all can have him. in truth, if you wanted a kstate coach, you'd be better off with matt figger. he recruits texas, and is pretty decent.

Can we just have Frank?

I believe Wally Judge was the last DC Assault player ksu signed, so it's been two years since Hill's connections have really paid off.

As sys says, Hill's a better coach and worse recruiter than most know. But what he left out is that's because Hill's a bad recruiter (outside of his now dried up connections with one AAAU team) and only slightly less bad coach.

He delivered Michael Beasley. That's all he's getting paid for now and that's all he'll ever be worth.
