To have Billy Tubbs and Kelvin Sampson coach us back to back. They probably had some years with just as much talent or less than we have right now and they got everything out of them almost every year. There's probably a few exceptions over the 20 years, but even at the worst of those teams we were pretty competitive. Capel seems like a good guy and is probably a good coach but it's becoming more and more obvious he's not at their level, and we may not find a coach at their level.

Are you kidding me? Why cant we find a good coach here.

I'm not saying we can't but those guys were great coaches and probably hall of fame caliber coaches. Say what you want about them or that Kelvin was a cheater or whatever. Both were flat out great game day coaches and as good as there are in the game. I think there's just as good a chance we get rid of Capel and end up with even worse.

We probably could have had Turgeon. He is certainly not worse. There are always good coaches out there looking to go to a major conference. Jeff Capel was an out of left field hire, our next coach will not be such a risk.

Isn't Billy G. available? What about any number of guys at mid-majors? What about a top assistant at Michigan State, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNC, Uconn, etc. etc. etc.

It is ridiculous to act like OU cannot find a good coach. The job pays a lot of money. There are plenty of guys willing to do it.

Travis Ford, Frank Martin, and Scott Drew are three examples of guys that essentially came from nowhere and are all clearly better coaches than Capel.

I agree. Nick is just a moron.

All good points. Coaches would be itching to coach at OU. And good ones.

I'm not sure it really matters because I think Joe C will stick with Jeff Capel till an even deeper bottom comes. Say we don't win a game an entire season. I think that we'll end up with around 12-15 wins this year and he sticks with him. I think finding guys as good as the last 2 coaches are just hard if not impossible. Those guys got almost everything out of their players.

Find me 12 more wins on the schedule please.

Last years team was less talented than this years years team and won 13 or 14. And the Big 12 is down and the schedule is real week at home for OU.

The big 12 has 4 teams in the top 20, and thats not counting A&M Texas, and OSU.

You know what's hilarious?

Bruce Pearl can still coach basketball and Kelvin Sampson is THE DEVIL FOR PHONE CALLS.

**** the NCAA.

I'm also really peeved that KS is never mentioned in OU bball history since he left.

Please tell me you don't seriously believe that. :facepalm

I hate to say this but I don't see OU winning more than 4 Big XII games. I think he loses all 8 road games plus drops games at home to at least four of KU, Baylor, OSU, Texas, Texas A&M, CU, Nebraska and Tech. 3 wins (CU, Nebraska and Tech) may be all OU gets in conference play.

I wanted to believe it was going to change this year but it isn't. OU does not have very good players and the coach can't even got those guys to play hard.

Last year's team less talent than this one? No way.

Two guys were drafted by the NBA from that team. No one sniffs the NBA from this team unless Clark improves considerably.

I think the top of the conference is good. But the bottom 7 teams or so are all about the same. Average at best.

Gallon being drafted by the NBA is a joke he's not even close to the talent Fitzgerald is right now. Warren didn't play most of the season.

They all have a better roster than we do, except more maybe ISU and Nebraska. Colorado has 1-2 possible NBA guys, not much else I guess. Tech has better players, and A&M, OSU and Texas are far better.

I think it will become very obvious that last year's team was more talented when we end up going 1-15 in the big 12.

Last year's team was most certainly more talented than this year's team. It had a couple of(esp. one) poisonous members who ruined the whole bunch. This year's team is the least talented that I've seen here since before Bliss. I'd like to see what Capel could do with the talent at the other schools in the Big XII. If he recruits better then the problem goes away because he is a capable coach.
