Weekly Rankings OU #19

Come on. Who has any big xii team beat? The conference is very mediocre. Only 3 big xii teams in the top 25 of the RPI. Kansas, Texas & West Virginia. Like OU, West Virginia & Texas don't have a single win over a top 50 team.

Texas appears to be legit, Iowa State is consistent under the Mayor, and while Kansas is struggling we know their confidence will kick in when conference play starts due to their history of dominance. But OU has a decent squad and if our shots fall at a better % we have a shot. Not because we're great. Because nobody else is great. The definition of mediocre.

I'm not disagreeing with you just want to know if you say the same thing about the SEC if football?

The SEC has had 6 different programs win the national championship in football recently. That's dominant, not mediocre. I have said it's mediocre this season but the bowls could prove me wrong.

In my opinion, bowls are not the best reflection of the SEC's relative strength because most of the bowl games are played in the SEC territory. The Big Ten and Big East essentially never get this benefit. The Big 12 rarely gets it.

The SEC has been very good at the top but I am confused who the six teams are. Alabama, LSU (and this was about a decade ago), Florida and Auburn have won titles recently. Are you including Tennesse in the 90s and Georgia in the 80s?

Fair enough, i would say the SEC was mediocre last year too since Auburn lost to FSU and we slapped alabama around

Agree 100%. These things go in cycles. Yes denver I went back to Georgia which is a bit of a reach. Tennessee title was in the BCS era. There was a 17 year gap with no SEC titles between those 2 and it will happen again.

For the Big XII to be considered above mediocre in hoops we need to start winning some titles. Texas has had the talent and should have done it. We have the core now that if we could just add a Blake Griffin Willie Warren combo we could do it.

either way .. we are 10 days away from clinching the #1 RPI conf for the second year in a row ..
