So, a simple question for all you "she makes too much" folk. If Boren cut her salary in half tomorrow, would you be happy?

As Barry Switzer once said: "It's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmies and the Joes."

I wouldn't say I be happy unless some other changes were made also..But it would be a start, maybe get her on the correct recruiting path.

Take your agenda to Joe Castiglione and David Boren. We have no voice in defining what she is paid.

You nor I have any voice in defining anything. This is an opinion board and I expressed a legitimate opinion. Slow study you are!

I will admit that some "fans" have a big mouth. Problem is they never have anything new to add to the conversation.

Well except to publicize their insecurity about a woman making more money than they can.

And you foolishly think you enlighten anyone with anything new. We are all just fans expressing our pro and con opinions, none of which are worth, even with a $2.00 bill, enough to buy a good cup of coffee including yours, mine or anyone else's.

Those decisions are made by Boren and Castiglione. But we darn sure don't have to agree with them. And this board is a social/media outlet to allow fans to express their satisfaction/dissatisfaction and ultimately reach the powers that be.

I support Syb's right to express his opinion and be wrong. I just wish he would respect my right to express my opinion and be right. :D

It appears more and more people are voicing their opinion with empty seats in the LNC.
And I might add, the HUGE number of empty seats at the Peake for the Big XII Women's tourney was both sad and shocking.

In 2007, when the two tournaments were played right across the street from one another in OKC, the toughest ticket of the weekend was the women's final: OU vs. Iowa State. Completely filled the Myriad. Way easier to get tickets to the men's tourney.

I don't know if regulations forced the switch to different weeks, but I always enjoyed walking over to Municipal Auditorium and catching a game or two in the women's tourney. The attendance this weekend has been lousy, and I don't see it being any better if KC or Dallas hosts it. I think switching the weeks was a bad decision, and I'd love to know the reasoning behind it.

The reasoning was to keep from competing against the men's tournament, high lighting the women on their own weekend. I don't know if it was a bad decision or not, but you are right, it doesn't matter if it is in KC, Dallas, or OKC, the attendance is pretty pathetic.

For me, this was the year of either moving up as a program, or losing some of my enthusiasm for the team. We had too many poor showings for us to move up, so for the first time in many years, when I had something else to do, I missed OU wbb games.
Unless we put a team on the court that plays hard almost all the time, and looks like it is prepared to play, I will continue or even increase my occasional absences.
There are more empty seats each year in LNC, and that will eventually get the attention of the administration.

As Barry Switzer once said: "It's not the X's and O's, it's the Jimmies and the Joes."

Yet who coaches those Janie's and Jo's makes a difference. I truly believe there are coaches who would get much more out of these same women without abusing them or taking away from their studies while still teaching them some good lessons in life. It is not easy and a head coach certainly needs a good staff who complements her/him.

The empty seats are a disappointment, but I worry that it goes far beyond just play on the court (while admitting that certainly plays a big part). But the attendance at the conference championship tourney goes way beyond OU fans. Most people who watch WBB do not want all the rough physical play. I know a good number of fans who simply quit going because they did not want to see that anymore. It has been cleaned up quite a bit across the country, but the Big-12 has stuck with rough dangerous physical play.

OU has also brought some of it on themselves. Here are some examples.

1. I use to buy tourney tickets from OU. But once it became clear we were often given the junk tickets (behind the goal, etc.) so those buying at the box office or online could get the good seats I simply went that way too. I now get excellent tickets, but if OU loses I just do not buy tickets to remaining games.

2. The other day, OU sold $10 tickets to non-season ticket holders that came with a free replica jersey. Even though I had no interest in the jersey, I realized that was a major slam to season ticket holders who had stuck with them for years. Really stupid and disrespectful!

3. When they offered the chance to commit to NCAA tourney tickets, you had to agree to buy tickets for rounds 1 & 2 no matter where they played. I would have committed to games in Norman, but no way I can commit to games with no idea where they will play. Again, just foolish marketing.

So, lots is going on that hurts fans with very little upside unless they win consistently, which is not happening now or for a few years.

You are exactly right about numbers 1,2, and 3. However it is not true that officials call Big 12 games differently than they do other conferences. They are the same officials. There are not Big 12 officials. I watch a lot of SEC games on the SEC Network. Same referees, same calling.

You have apparently never officiated at any level - certainly not at the college or pro level.

Conference leaders meet with officials before and during the season and make it VERY clear how they want the games called. Officials listen and generally follow those "suggestions". They do NOT call the game the same in every situation. Sometimes a conference administrator has even been known to speak to officials at halftime and make it clear that there are problems with their work in the first half.

Anyone who thinks officials always call games the same needs to become friends with a few officials - or at least read some of the books they have written.

At least you did not say I was the most confused person in this part of the country as you did someone else on another thread. lol You are a know it all.

In case you didn't know the officials aren't robots, Guess we need a bunch of Mr. Data's out there. Most of the time the officials make better calls than some coaches during a game.
