Westmoore had its chance to stumble, but Jessi Murcer wouldn’t let that happen.

The Oklahoma signee hit a game-tying 3-pointer early in the third quarter Friday, put her arms to her side, jumped and yelled to her bench as OU coach Sherri Coale watched from the stands.

One of the state’s most prolific scorers was energized, and Class 5A No. 1-ranked Lawton Eisenhower was officially in trouble.

“I was really ready for this game,” Murcer said.

Murcer scored 36 points, pushing Class 6A No. 4 Westmoore to a 78-67 victory in the semifinals of the Lady Jaguar Classic. She was efficient, making 13 of 17 shots and all nine free throws. She was timely, turning that 3-pointer into a six-point swing to regain control after Westmoore squandered a 19-point lead in the first half.

“She’s a competitor,” Westmoore coach Andrea Guziec said. “She’s going to show up every single day when she steps on the court. We needed her today and she did it.”

Westmoore (10-3) jumped to a 26-7 lead after the first, taking advantage of 13 turnovers and poor shooting from Lawton Eisenhower (8-1).

But the Eagles recovered in the second, scoring 30 points and getting within one by the half. Murcer, though, responded with 18 points in the second half.
