"It was an ugly game on both sides," Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel said. "Neither team could make a shot. I don't know if it was good defense or just really bad offense."

Anybody saw that both teams are equally bad on offense. Even the announcer said the way Cinci played tonight, they would get beat by 10 plus points in the Big East. What's a crock.

Yep it was sad to watch. I was really unimpressed by Cincy they aren't any good. If this is a Kelvin or Billy coached OU team we win by 20 or 30 or 50 in Billy's case.

Wow, even I can figure that one out, ummmmm, it was bad offense. No, not bad, "HORRID" is a better term for it. We looked like a junior high team out there on offense. We were clueless when it came to handling the pressure, no motion or flow to the offensive sets, and basically just played ugly street ball.

.333 fg shooting and an embarrassing .182 from 3 tells you everything you need to know about this game.

I was a bit surprised to see that we were only out rebounded by 6, sure seemed like much more than that during the game. I do have one perplexing thought though. Fitz had 5 rebounds in 35 min of play. CJ had 3 rebounds in 6 min. of play. You would think that when you are having an off night shooting, you would want a better rebounder in there, seeing how the odds were you're going to "miss" the shot if taken? I am at my wits end on what to expect or think when watching this team.

Why?
'Cause the BanMan CAN!

WooHoo, just noticed I hit "DOUBLE DIGITS" on my post count, I am burning up the interweb.....:)

Well we couldn't hit a boars a** with a baseball bat, this seams to be a trend on the road (including neutral sites) for this team. A team must find a way to win when this occurs, Turnovers killed us in the first half, for the game Cincy had 10 Fast break pts compared to 2 for us, this itself is as pathetic as not being able to make a bucket. Once Fitz went out we had no one that could rebound either. This did not surprise me though. Goff and Osby should fix this problem next year and hopefully by next year this team can go on the road and shoot the ball at least somewhat like they do at home.

Well Jeff every game you have coached the last 2 years has been ugly.

Sometimes, in a very long relationship, it's better for everyone to "take a break" and come back fresh. I think I'll be doing that shortly...I'll come back and root on our new coach.

Seriously...Capel needs to shed 3-4 guys and bring in a new 5-6 guys if he wants to win next year (if he even gets to next year). My confidence in him doing this, based on what I've seen with his talent evaluation, character evaluation, closing ability in recruiting and if he gets that far, coaching ability, is zero.

A guy I know who plays HS BBall in Texas and is friends with many of the top players in Texas from camps for years told me that he can't believe OU isn't even recruiting most of the top guys in Texas...

Here he goes again blaming the players and people wonder why kids leave him every year.

If Kelvin Coached we'd either lose by three or win by three. That was actually a Kelvin type game.

He may be a subpar athlete and rebounder, but the only player OU cannot take off the floor right now is Fitz. He is our only consistent scorer, and without him all we have is "hoping" that Cade, Pledger, or perhaps maybe Cam can have a good night. Having CJ out there just takes away our one legitimate ofensive option. Now maybe CJ for Nick at times would be ok, since NT only gets the rebounds that come directly to him.

Fitz takes himself off the floor by getting in foul trouble

How is this blaming the players? It's fact! Nobody could make a shot. He's not calling anyone out. It's not like he said, "Cade Davis played terrible tonight". Capel can't shoot the ball for them. They had open looks and they couldn't make them.

This!

Why did Capel bring them to OU?

If capel knew TMG wasn't a hard worker, why did he start? Sit then on the bench until they work hard. Play TJ Franklin if you have to but don't play guys that refuse to work in practice. Furthermore why is there an attitude on the team that accepts players not working hard? Why didn't the other players kick TMG and Tiny's @sses? Tony Crocker and Ryan Wrigght should have been taught to beat them if necessary but make them work.

with people like tiny & tommy there isnt much you could have done. knowing tony personally he wanted nothing more than to win & have his team be successful.. i know he tried but me first attitudes dont give a sh*t bout anyone but themselves.....

Why did we win so many games with Blake and company here? Was that good coaching or good players? Yep, just like I thought.

Our players are not up to the level we hope for (or expect). Great kids mind you, just not as skilled as some previous kids were. And yes, you are right, THAT is the part that falls on Capel, he recruited them.

Not so: Capel could have sat them until they had earned playing time. As has been stated elsewhere, Capel has admitted there were warning signs in the summer of '09 that they weren't working hard, that their attitudes needed adjusting, that they came in with an inflated sense of entitlement and enlarged egos.

But he did little to address the situation, and it only got worse over time.

I'm surprised Capel was able to sign anyone at all last year. When a recruit (who is now playing for his dad) tells Capel he's coming to OU but backs out after other schools negative recruit and send him all the articles from the Daily Oklahoman saying the program is gonna get hard hit by the NCAA. Which I'm sure was the case with every other bigtime recruit we were in on. Capel fielded a team so we could have a team this year and actually play basketball but has set the stage for next season.

I doubt very seriously that there was anythingn that Capel or anyone could have done to change TMG other than a brain surgeon's transplant. And there can be no doubt about the negative recruiting. Notice how quickly the national communists against athletes acted on C.Newton while they are still dithering on Tiny? I couldn't lose any more respect for them having none left to begin with.

Capel signed too many guys that nobody wanted. I know OU needed bodies but it is going to hurt OU the next couple years because there aren't many scholarships available.

If OU thought it was difficult recruiting because of the negative articles, it is going to be even more difficult because OU having a losing record three out of five years is all you have to tell recruits if you are going against OU for a kid.

Of the so called untalented guys that Capel oversigned, everyone is calling for Neal to get playing time, Ahmed is gone, washington and Thompson will be seniors next year then gone. Plus TJ leaving opens up another scholly for next season. I don't really see this hurting the team in the future. Seems to me like everything is shaking out in OU's favor, all except for wins this season. Get Osby, Goff and now two recruits next year.
