With posters arguing who should or shouldnt get minutes im curious to see everyones opinions.

Mine

1) grooms
2) pledger
3) Mbaye
4) Osby
5) Fitz

Not sure if this would work. But going bigger allows us to potentially grab more rebounds.

And I put mbaye at the three because I dont know who else needs to play the three. Im not a fan of pledger at the three. Clark isnt playing to well so why not try mbaye out there.

Grooms, Pledger, Clark, Osby, Fitz

Grooms, Pledger, Clark, Osby, Fitz

I thought about that also, but clark is not playing well at all. In my opinion he doesnt deserve many minutes as of yet. He will be fine as the year goes on im sure.

You need at least two ball handlers. Kruger has it right. Cousin, Hornbeak, Pledger, Osby, and M'Baye.

Clark is Sefolosha. I don't need his points.

Grooms is good enough to handle the ball by himself. If he gets in trouble you can bring other kids off the bench.

I dunno why grooms doesnt get more props, he is a good point guard.

so you want to bench our best ball handler? It isnt even close, grooms is far and away our best ball handler and our best player at getting us in the offense.

Cousins
Pledger
Hornbeak
Fitz
Ozby

Hield and Amath off the bench with Clark and Grooms.

I think Fitz gets in a better flow as a starter and to me is a more proven front court scoring option than M'baye.

You could start Grooms, but I feel better having him play off the bench if Cousins is off as opposed to the reverse.

I really thought there would only be 2 posters on this thread.

He can not shoot. He is a good on ball defender, but, he is helpless when trying to close out on a 3 pt. shooter. Besides that, he is a good point guard.

And a basketball team needs at least 2 ball handlers.

I actually like the starting lineup we currently have except, I would put Grooms at the point. Especially going against Arky and their uptempo Defense. But Hornbeak has been good in spurts and can defend, while Pledg at the three gives some mismatches, you can't take his offense off of the court. And I like Fitz off of the bench, he is still getting starters minutes and we need the athleticism of Mbaye and Roe on the defensive and offensive side to start. Having all three out there at the same time, just does not make much sense to me. I know this year's lineup has not produced a great offense yet, I think in time the Offensive production will come. Pledger will shoot even better than he is so far, and Mbaye will make those inside hook shots that he has missed... It will come together. By the way, I really like Cousins and think he will be a great Sooner (thought he had a pretty good game on Friday), but I think right now we need Groom's experience.

Grooms
Hornbeak
Pledger
Mbaye
Osby

The problem is that you have no PG and no center. Grooms is a senior but cant shoot. Your other options are freshmen. You have no center and your three best post players all basically are tweener power forwards.

but I would start these 5 just to have the 5 best on the floor and I would play Cameron Clark and Tyler Neal more than Kruger does especially in big 12 play.

1. Hornbeak
2. Pledger
3. Osby
4. Mbaye
5. Fitz

I guess Cousins could start at pg over hornbeak but hornbeak is the better player. I dont think either of them are a true pg. But they both can do more overall than Grooms.

I'd go with:
Grooms
Hornbeak
Hield
Fitz
Osby

I don't think Fitz has been allowed to get in a rhythm. I don't like pledger and his inconsistancy. Mbaye would be a good energy guy off the bench

You guys make me very, VERY happy that LK is our coach, and not any of you. :)

I kinda like that rotation. The one thing I believe the most is grooms should be the starting point guard. Secondly Osby should be in the starting lineup.

I think mbaye is better than fitz, however if you think him not starting is messing with his game then shuffling him around is worth a shot.

It wasn't me that benched Grooms. It was Kruger. He didn't get kicked off the team. He is sitting right there if Coach needs him to come in and contribute. And he has done just that a couple of times. Isn't that a good thing?

Grooms is the best ball handler. He is in the spot that he is in because of the damage he did to himself last season over his shooting. Big 12 coaches aren't dumb. They will put OU in the position of winning or losing the game based on Grooms ability to hit a jump shot. Kruger just cann't make it that easy for them.

And by the way. Over a year ago I wasn't just early on the Grooms band wagon. I was the band wagon. I like the kid. He can make this team better by doing just what he is doing now.

I think the "running the team" argument doesn't hold much weight.

Once Cousins or Grooms makes that first pass, unless we reset the offense later in the possession, the guards all do the same thing. This isn't the NBA where Rondo keeps the ball in his hands until he is ready to shoot, or pass to somebody that is going to shoot.

The problem is that our offense in general, right now stinks. Some of that is missing shots, some of that is that our pieces fit together much nice on defense, and not so well on offense. We have three post guys that excel at shooting 15 footers. That is also about the range of Clark and Grooms. We just don't have a good mix of offensive talent right now. Some of that will change when the frosh get more experience. Some of it won't change until we turnover the roster.
