After 2 games what do you think the rotation will be

I've been on the Grooms bandwagon from day one.

Some people listened I shouldnt have said noone.

I think to many of us on here get caught up in the hype. In my opinion I dont get caught up on one game were pledger hit 5 threes...he is not going to hit 5 threes every game and if he is not shooting well were will his offense come from?

He is like a career 34% three point shooter, a good shooter but not some ungodly shooter....

We wer elast in the big 12 in rebounding...you put guys in there that can crash the glass and play defense...we are never going to just outscore teams that are D1 level teams

So just because pledger had 1 real nice game to me doesnt mean he will be our leading scorer. I fully expect cam to be simply because cam will get plenty of "garbage" points

i dont think CJ washington will be a player for minutes.. hes not very skilled but other than that everyone is guessing about what i would guess

For the 129th time....Pledger is going to play a lot of minutes.

I dont think anyone was debating if he will be a huge contributor...someone mentioned him not starting i believe

No doubt pledger gets alot of minutes...im just more of a fan of newells

He probably leads the teams in time on the floor save maybe Cameron Clark. He HAS to be out there as much as possible, otherwise teams are just going to pack it in.

You bring up an interesting point here, Boulder. Arent "depending on matchups". I was just thinking that Arent might be a situational guy. For example, you dont want Fitz going Henriquez at Kansas State (7'1''), Perry Jones at Baylor (6'11''), etc. Arent will probably come in to defend and rebound against bigger teams.

i don't think you want arent or fitz guarding perry jones ... osby will guard him every min he is on the court

I agree with you, I just had an opinion on a starting line-up.

The only thing keeping Chris Arent from playing a ton of minutes is foul trouble. He's a big body, good rebounder, I don't know if he can defend well without fouling so that'll put him on the bench a lot. That's why I could see him splitting time with CJ Washington instead of Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is our best scoring post player.

or the fact that he has not played very much "good" basketball at OU .. he was average at best in game 2 and a non factor in game 1 ...

your 6'10 big man has to be able to finish inside 3 feet .. and if he can't against washburn he won't be able to against the big 12

You may be writing Arent off prematurely. He played 8 minutes in the first game and finished with 3 points, 4 rebs and 1 block. As a comparison, C. J. had 2 points and 2 rebs in 11 minutes; Fitz had 10 points and 3 rebs in 17 minutes. Casey's numbers were not that bad considering the limited time he was on the floor. One rebound was counted as a "team rebound."

While I agree that a big man has to be able to finish shots in close, he can still contribute in other ways when those shots aren't falling. Arent did that in the Washburn game with 10 rebounds (5 defensive and 5 offensive) in only 14 minutes. No other big man on the team even came close to that number. Fortunately, our back court rebounded well, with 30 of the 49 team rebounds. C. J., Fitz, Osby and Honore' had a combined 8 boards.

What I'm trying to say is that we need Casey Arent for more than scoring points. He gives us the size and deph in our front court we didn't have last year. Besides, I think it's too early to say if he's capable of making those shtos when he gets a little more experience at the D-1 level. Chances are good he was nervous playing in only his second game of the season in limited minutes. I would be.

As far as I'm concerned, the jury is still out on Casey's scoring. But I like what I have seen from him on the boards, and unless our other big men step up and prove to be terrors on the glass, we'll need Casey Arent.

OU will need at least 8 and probably 9 to play Kruger's style of ball.

The starting lineup for the opening game will probably be:

Grooms
Osby
Fitz
Clark
Pledger

Off bench with significant playing time
Blair
Neal
Newell
Arent

Mopup time
Honore
Washington
Franklin

Croud favorite
Fraschilla

Anyone know why Kruger has not played?

Actually with Washington they can go 10 deep.

By the end of the year Neal and Newell could challenge

Kruger is a transfer and is required to sit out this year. My prediction would be that the minutes played between Arent and Fitz and the minutes between Pledger and Calvin will narrow as the season progesses. And the minutes between Grooms and Blair will widen.

Neal could log near starter minutes off the bench. And Barry and CJ should get plenty of chances due to what seems to be Arent and Fitz's tendency to foul.

I think Blair, Neal and Newell could get the nod to start from time to time, not together, but early on as Kruger experiments with his lineup and the rotation he'll go with when the season is underway. Aside from that one minor point, a spot on analysis, SoonerinNC!

did you watch the second game or just read the box score??

2 or 3 of his O boards were on his own 2 foot misses ..

he will provide ok depth ... but he is not a starter
