What is wrong?

What negative impact, if any, do you think this season will have on recruiting for 2015?

WHOA there slugger. Signing day isn't till April 16 (and D1 players have till May 21 to sign), which means that we have the rest of the season to convince recruits that this is not a disaster, this can be fixed, things are looking bright in the future, etc etc

Now that I've typed that, I see that you said 2015, not this year. In that case, I would say a few prospects may not be short listing us initially, but as we are talking about teenage girls, their minds will change a lot in a year's time.

Norm, I am not sure how it will affect recruiting if the losses keep piling up. On the other side, look at how the Sugar Bowl win is affecting Stoops recruiting. Superhoops hit the nail on the head. The staff is not developing the talents of the players we get.

I agree it Recruiting. The sooners don't need to sign 4 top 100 players every year, were not at that level. But solid players who can score or put up big numbers in high school. I think Louis will lead the team in RPG next year, Griffin wasn't that strong of a rebounder coming out of high school. Louis is grabbing almost 14 a game right now, I remember saying she could start next year over Kay Kay, most people thought it wouldn't happen. Even if she doesn't start from day one she should at lest help push Kay Kay and make her better, something Kai James could have done to Griffin this year.

First we need someone on staff who can recruit. We lost our recruiters with Overton and then Hansmeyer. Until Sherri hires someone who can recruit, we are stuck.

Sherri has surrounded herself with minions and none of them will question her. Also none of them can recruit big time talent.

I know it's a tough time to be a fan of this team when they're at 7 losses, but I'd like to think this is a small blip in the radar and we go back to contending for the Big 12 next season.

I admittedly said the same thing last season, but hey, we ended up in the Sweet 16 last season

We have a good group of kids. Lots of talent. It's just getting them into a flow every game.

I think this team lost it confidences durning one of the games we lost season. I'm not sure if we can get out of this slump, but a big win would really turn our season around and get the team playing better. Unfortunately I'm not sure if Sherri or anyone on the staff can motivate the team to play better, I know this will seem like a dis but sometimes The OU coaches look a little lost when things don't go right and are unsure how to respond. There has been a few games since I've been a OU fan(short time 2005) when we have a big lead start to cost and then the other team takes over and we can't respond or stop a big run. The staff sits there with a "this is unbelievable" look, and it would take a player to respond, (Drob or Hand) and we don't seem to have that type of player on our team...

Recruiting can be tricky none of us know what Sherri tells a player she's interested in but, it should be noted that she recruits the "person " not the "player". I know some people like to think we are an elite team who should be in on at lest 1 top 12 player every year but reality is that OU isn't at that level right now, thought we have been there in the past. The old success could be over looked by kids these day, 2002 was a long time ago.

Great post, Mac. I have also seen that "deer in the headlights" look on the coaches faces at times, too.

I don't think UNC is all that but they signed 4 elite prospects last year. S. Carolina signed an elite player last year and they have 3 elite prospects coming this fall. Look at Texas. They have been down for a few years yet they are bringing in top prospects. Ohio St. has a number of top players coming in. UCLA is going nuts as well. Same with Cal. I don't think those teams should be bringing in better players than we are.

I have said and continue to say, we don't need a roster full of top players. We would be fine if we had 2 elite players and some really good role players. Right now we have one who I would consider elite and she graduates in May. I think Ortiz has a chance to be an elite player. But, I am doubtful anyone else on the roster will fall into that category. We need to land a player like Cox or McCoy to go with Ortiz in order to get back to the level we enjoyed in the past.

I here you Norm. UCLA, CAL, Texas, S.Car, and Ohio State are lucky because they've been able to get in state success with regards to recruiting. UNC was a different story they went after a great player Deshields, and she got 2 other elite players to play with her Washington was from North Carolina but moved to OK when she was young. Ortiz could be a difference maker for us. Depending on who shes friends with and who would want to play with her and for Sherri. Arike Ogunbowale talked about playing with Ortiz, but Ou didn't make her final 11, Tynice Martin from the state of Georgia has become friends with Ortiz but im not sure what schools shes looking at, she's 5'10 but agv a double double from the wing position in high school. Well have to see what happens with Cox who is friends with Mulkey they could want to play together.

It is a mess and there is, unfortunately only one person at fault. Until she changes we will be what we are. Stoops changed, it seems for the better, not sure Sherri (who is just like him except he is a better one on one recruiter) will.
