Yeah, **** those guys! They couldn't accurately predict where an 18 year old was going to college. What a pair of idiots, right?
Either of them could have just said, "I've no clue where he'll go; it'll be interesting to see how it plays out" and not lost a single ratings point in the process.
might have actually gained some ratings for being honest for once
I haven't been in Oklahoma for quite awhile, but I always appreciated that Al would talk OU Basketball when almost no one else on the radio would. I'd go easy on him. I know he was wrong, but I think he wants the best for OU basketball and is more supportive than some other radio folks in Oklahoma.
I hear you and I've been away from Oklahoma for many years, but I listen to him now and then and he seems to have been coasting for a good long time. He was once an insider with good info, but those days seem to be long gone.
Originally, Al was the only insider who provided any information. Back in the day, he was the only source of recruiting information. It seemed like he was the only reporter who was an OU fan.I hear you and I've been away from Oklahoma for many years, but I listen to him now and then and he seems to have been coasting for a good long time. It was sufficient that when I lived in Europe, I subscribed to the Oklahoma Journal by mail just to get his column. It took a month to get there (surface mail, third class), but it was the only OU information. My newspapers tended to come in bunches rather than one or two a day. It's like they all got thrown into a bin on some ship, and I would get fifteen on one day. There was no internet, and it was still called Armed Forces Network. I had to ship back to the states to buy an American TV when I moved to an area that got an Armed Forces Network signal since German TVs wouldn't get it (frequencies, signals, etc.). Al was the only source I had. I learned all about the Tabor brothers from him.
Al changed to OU yesterday, but Dean was still waffling - these guys :facepalm
I thought the exact same thing. As soon as I heard that making the rounds I thought, "well, now I know we're really in it."I wasn't the most optimistic person on here about Trae committing to OU, but I knew we had a much better shot once Dean predicted KU.
