My coach stressed all the time that we should know what we were going to do with the ball before we even received a pass. We should know if we were going to catch and shoot, drive inside, pass, etc. If we were going to pass, we were expected to get rid of the ball as soon as we received it. We don't see passes like that often but it's a thing if beauty, especially when executed properly and it results in a score.

In the 1930's, when my Dad was a pretty good player, bounce passes were considered taboo.

Things change over time.

We were taught to always pass on angles and never straight across. Never use a bounce pass in traffic. And after making a pass, move, make the defense work.
