I cant make up my mind between Maddie and EJ. I think the REAL Maddie is going to show up and that EJ is better than we could reasonably expect.

How good we are (as is the case most years) is; What kind of improvement did players make in the off season both in basketball skills and maturity? Can returning players like Gioya and Kaykay be consistently good, like they showed for spells last year? Can Gabbi and Peyton improve from conference all star candidates to conference player of year candidate? Can Maddie fulfill the promise of all star leader she has flashed? Can any of a long list of back-ups force their way into starter contention and meaningful playing time?

My candidates? Vivi is going be a star reserve. Derica and/or Gileysa will be top reserves with flashes of great play.

In all honesty, I expect KayKay to have an All American type of year. I saw flashes of greatness late in the season last year. If she can stay out of foul trouble she can be a real problem on the inside.

There are two types of surprises: one being improvement resulting from learning to play within the limits of your ability, and the other exhibiting that the limits of your ability are higher than are now thought. I think we are very likely to see significant improvement in Kay Kay, Peyton, Gioya, and T'Ona as they learn to play up to their abilities, which may also require others to express talents that we didn't know that they had. I think the "surprises" will arise from Maddie (although nothing she does could surprise some of us), Vivi, McKenna, EJ, LaNesia, or Gileysa since they may well have an upside that hasn't been revealed yet. Since Vivi and Gileysa had so little time in an American setting, I think it is likely to be one of them. Since we have seen some of what Vivi can do, I think the biggest surprise would be if Penzo can break into the guard rotation this year.

I think Gabbi's leadership and defense will surprise.

Gioya, Vivi, Gily, EJ......Gioya will be more confident and play like she can.
Vivi will have just improved and also be better because of health. Gily, I just expect to surprise many. EJ is just a freshman but expect her to be smart and play well. Maddie should also be much better this year after finally getting to play a year, she should have more confidence and more consistency.

These picks are more expectations from me than they will be surprises. They may surprise some. The question did not necessarily restrict to one person thus my multi person answer.

Peyton Little is an incredible 3 point shooter. She really didn't shoot as well as she can. Her percentage and ppg should go up. Expect big things from her this year!

I'd be thrilled if Gioya made a very noticeable improvement in her game. She certainly doesn't lack from speed and athleticism, but she needs to get steadiness in her shooting game, more point guard skills, and work on her knowledge of what to do in what circumstance.

If Gabbi continues to improve, I'll be thrilled again. She's OU's answer at PG for the next three years. Few teams get that privilege. I won't be terribly shocked if she's all-American by her junior year.

I think Peyton will be solid for the full year, and some one from the post position will take the lead and do the same.

vivi we saw glimpses of what she can do. This is going to be a good year for her. I think McKenna will also do a lot more this year as well.
