Who is the best coach in college basketball right now?

Who would you pick to run your program today?

Polls only allow 10 options, which isn't really enough, but I tried to pick 10 based on current rate of success with a nod toward the NCAA tournament. There are obviously a couple of guys on here that have had rough years but I'm not going to exclude someone that has had tremendous success based solely on one season.

Others names definitely worthy of consideration:

Bob Huggins
Jim Calhoun
Rick Barnes
Bruce Pearl
Bo Ryan
Billy Donovan
Mark Few

If you don't like any of the choices in the poll, tell us who you'd pick and why.

As much as I hate him and I know he cheats like crazy it's probably Calipari. Why scum like him is allowed to coach at this level while Kelvin Sampson isn't is beyond me though.

Geno Auriemma, in my opinion is the best basketball coach in America right now regardless of gender. If you make me stay within the men's ranks only, then probably would take Bill Self.

When it comes to Xs and Os and development, Gary Williams is up there.

Too bad he doesn't like to recruit because he hates the AAU circuit (and loves to drink and play golf)

Self.

During tournament time though, I rarely go against Izzo...won me some good money last year.

Who drinks more...Bruce Pearl or Williams?

Bob Chuggins?

Always thought Pearl would be a bigger fan of speed

No...Chuggins is the best dressed coach in basketball. Everyone keeps saying it's Jay Wright but it's gotta be Chuggins.

No love for Roy Williams?

Before the season, would he had garnered zero votes?

Izzo #1
Self #2
Same.

I tend to weight what someone does at Michigan State more heavily than a Kansas, UNC, Kentucky, etc. Bill has done well at every school, which is why I would put him ahead of Roy Williams or someone like that. Taking Michigan State to 5 Final Four's, winning a title, and another runner-up is insane. I don't have a problem with anyone putting Self or Roy Williams #1, but those are the only 2 I think can legitimately be ahead of Izzo.

What is also interesting is so far Self is 1 and Izzo is 2. One look at the bracket shows why this is interesting.

Izzo has gone to 5 Final Four's in the past 11 years at Michigan State. That's nuts. He's 31-10 in the NCAA Tournament, also nuts.

Man I might be hard pressed to take anyone over Boeheim. Dude has been doing it at an extremely high level for a long, LONG time.

And I rate Gary Williams up there when it comes to flat out coaching...so you have 3 in that portion of the region with KU #1, Maryland #4, and MSU #5. Heavy weight coaching.
