Should have ran a play. The offense needed it badly.

That's what I was wondering. Had 10 sec to draw up a play but he saw pledge had it and guess thought he could do something in that time.

Ddoes it matter? If you dont play defense any better than we did you ought to lose. And we did.

He said on the radio that Pledger had a full head of steam, though he wanted Pledger to drive the ball and he pulled up for the long 3-pointer.

He said the team didn't show the toughness they needed to down the stretch, too many Cincy offensive rebounds and couldn't get the key stops down the stretch.

Some coaches call timeouts and some let the play happen.

Remember, if you call a TO, the other coach also gets to setup a play so when you don't call a TO, maybe you catch the other team celebrating or not playing defense because they don't want to foul. I have no qualms with Kruger not calling a TO there.

True, our defense was poor down the stretch. But I was more upset with our tunovers and mental errors. 17 TOs, 15 of them by our guards (Pledger with 6 and Grooms with 5).

OU won't win many games on the road if our guards don't do a better job of dealing with the pressure.

That's the entire story in a nutshell. Hopefully, these guys will learn from this.

Shoulda called the damn TO. I get trying to get the team to grow up in pressure situations but we have no 1 on 1, dribble drive, players on this team in a late game situation. We needed to run a damn play and get the ball into the hands of Osby or Fitz.

We got the ball with 7 seconds left, run a stupid play.

We held them to 27.9 percent shooting overall and 23.3 percent from three-point range.

Did we come up short on defense a couple of times down the stretch? Undeniably, but the only reason the game was close enough for those plays to be so crucial was the role the officials played in allowing Cincy to get back in the game down the stretch.

One-side officiating impacts defensive play. The team that's getting away with murder -- Cincy, in this case -- gets a huge boost from being able to go on the attack, while the team that's inexplicably drawing the whistles is trying to simultaneously hold off a surging team, deal with a roaring crowd, and figure out what the hell they can do on defense that the officials won't whistle them for.

We got rattled down the stretch, no doubt, but the Bearcats had a lot of help in accomplishing that. A deeper, more veteran team would have prevailed, but even then it wouldn't necessarily have been easy.

meh. doesn't bother me. I think kruger might have wanted to see how this team reacted when they bdidn't call a TO. See who stepped up to be the hero. Pledge did, but failed. Still excited about this team

Question of the day. Kruger should have called a timeout. Without exception.

Kruger wanted our team to push the ball while Cin was celebrating. A timeout also gives Cinci a chance to setup.

Given the performance of our half court offense for 39:55, I think LK made a sound decision. There was time for someone to get a good look at the basket, closer than 3 pt range. The fly in the ointment is that Pledge shot too early and too far out. We had the UC defense in disarray.

I think a TO should have been called as well, the thing is if Pledge hits the shot no one is asking if we should have called timeout; what beat us was turnovers-free throw shooting and we quit rebounding late in the game. We were 4 for 9 from the line and they were 15-20 that is 11 points, IMO the reason we only shot 9 had to do with turnovers; when we were able to penetrate without the turnovers either we ended up with good dumps to the bigs or free throws, someone has to step up and help Sam. Our D was sensational for the most part, a couple of break downs late in the game but all in all if you hold someone to 55 pts you should be able to win the game. Tomorrow will be another day and we should win our 10th game of the year, honestly there aren't many of us who thought we would have 10 wins going into conference play.

So if we call a TO we have to inbounds the ball in the backcourt. how much time will we use getting it in and back to where we were before? What sort of pressure will we face and will we get the ball in the frontcourt with any real time left? Our best player had the ball and he went with it. I haven't a problem with that. The last seven seconds didn't lose us the game.

Kruger's coaching philosophy appears to be to not over coach his team. When we went into a funk against Houston instead of calling a timeout to stop their comeback.

When he could call timeout at the end of the Cincy game he chose to attack rather than allow the Bearcats to set their defense. I think we as fans are going to have to get used to Lon's somewhat unconventional approach to coaching the team from the bench. His philosophy to me appears to be not over coach them.

I got to see him coach quite a bit while I was in Vegas. I really think you all will like him. He's a very good xno guy and works the sideline very well. I always felt he prepares his team in practice and inbetween games and then lets them do their job come gametime.
