Why does Krugar's office look like a basement?

Re: Why does Kruger's office look like a basement?

Is this Kruger's office? And who else offices there? What am I looking at?

(Click to navigate the arrow to lead you around.)

His office is in the left corner closed office, door open, but yes that's his side with his staff's desks outside.

That conference room on the right side opens to a staircase on the backside to the semi-underground practice courts for the men. The women's side has the same structure on the opposite side of that South annex.

Joe C knows this isn't a good luck. Who puts their $3M basketball coach and staff in a basement looking office?

First the blender building on north campus on now this. :facepalm

Why do you think it looks like a basement?

It looks cluttered to me but not like a basement. There are multiple doors and windows that are clearly above ground.

Is your concern the ceiling? If so, it is easy to put in a drop ceiling with tiles or even dry wall. Lots of people like that look. I am not one of them but you see it all the time in loft apartments in very expensive buildings.

I think if you got a decorator with a few hundred thousand dollar budget, you could give that place a completely new look.

That's my point. It'd take $30k per office area to fix those ceilings, both Kruger's and Coale's. They just need to continue the drywall work in various places like they did on the outside. It doesn't have to be an old drop ceiling look, but they can be more design creative than that from my perspective.

OU has a brand new Architectural College, so have the student design something.

Why not just do it?

I doubt Kruger gives a crap, and given our recruiting, the players don't appear to either.

It sounds like OU wants to make some changes to LNC, and will do so as soon as it makes sense to do so. I'm guessing those offices get a makeover in the next 3-5 years, likely as part of larger project.

OU needs to lockdown the state and improve their overall recruiting.

Facilities go a long way in doing that. I agree with the other poster above. Perhaps, OU has a bigger plan down the road once the football facilities are complete. 3 to 5 years. Oil at $55 to $60 will be profitable again.

I've been inside the basketball offices several times. Never once have I felt like I were walking through a basement. Perhaps the light was just odd the day of the panoramic shot.

Our hoops facilities are very nice.

To me those offices look very nice, especially for people who coach basketball games for a living.

I was thinking the same thing. I work from home and my office is in my basement and there are no windows. Those OU offices look pretty good to me.

I like the looks of it overall. More of an athletic feel vs an office building fell.

Coale doesn't need any more money put into her office after losing to OSU by 31.

She needs to focus on recruiting some athletes that can win games.

top 20 in womens basketball is the same as the top 100 in mens basketball.

They are competitive most nights but that's about it.

Women's basketball tends to have 2 - 5 extremely good teams every year, then 20 or so that are fairly interchangeable. The rest are the ones who are 'competitive' most nights', which sounds like a .500 team at best. We haven't been in that category for some time. We've sometimes been in the top 2 - 5 and the rest of the time been mixed in with the next group. Given the fact that there are so many more men who play basketball at a high level than there are women, there are always going to be more good men's teams than women's.

The fact that Coach Coale was voted into the Hall of Fame must have been horribly disappointing to the OU fans who love to complain about Coach Coale.

I had to laugh at this thread. You guys need to go take a few courses in modern architecture.

May not be your cup of tea, but then again probably lots of modern ideas aren't either.

Not mine either by the way.

Don't worry, MPS. They are just little ole boogers. And some a bit larger than that. :)

Modern architecture with furniture from a 1950's law firm doesn't add. :facepalm

It's a bad mix and those ceilings are too low for that loft look.

I've built out both scenarios, so I know the difference and height requirements, where it is viable and where it is not. I also know the furniture design that complements it or distorts it. The entrance of the BB trophy ring thing is a good look with a poor entrance into the building, but I understand they are working with what they have to work with.

But, you can't continue that look in low ceilings, especially in an office environment. That's why you offset it with drywall like they did in the entrance of the office, but for some reason they didn't continue through, saving maybe $20k? Then, they furnish the office with dark hardwood furniture used in formal traditional settings.

Check out the new football stadium South endzone upgrade video and you'll see the right mix.

Who are the recruits who have declined a basketball scholarship to OU because of those low ceilings or tacky furniture?
