Why does Krugar's office look like a basement?

Who are the recruits who have declined a basketball scholarship to OU because of those low ceilings or tacky furniture?

Yeah, facilities don't matter. Ask Bob why his facilities just got a $120M injection in the right arm and OU's football is a brand second to none.

Kruger doesn't need facilities because basketball players play for the passion of the game. :facepalm

KSU is silly for building this new basketball practice facility and office for their men and women programs:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with these offices that any recruit would ever notice unless maybe they planned to major in architecture, and I'd seriously doubt that. The strength and conditioning areas being built would 100 times over be important to recruits. You cannot rebuild/renovate/build new facilities for every sport every year!

Perspective: KSU spent $18M on the below 50,000 sq ft facility, while OU is looking to spend $7M on annexing a small S&C to their original practice facilities that cost $14M back in the day, total $21M. Neither will be a tall stand alone impressive facility to walk into from my perspective.

KSU accomplished their stand alone facility goal spending $3M less, because they chose not to piecemeal projects and simply got it right, leaving an imposing infrastructure that sells commitment to excellence. Recruits eat that up.

Most recruits are going to pay a lot more attention to the exhibits in the Legacy Court area, which is right outside of the coaches offices, than they will with coaches offices themselves.

OU's practice facilities have actually been cited as a positive in recruiting for many years, but HW, who can rarely be bothered to post here at all, gets a bee in his bonnet and starts not one but two threads insisting that they're a problem.

Just imagine if our facilities were as glam as HW wishes they were -- we'd have a team good enough to be ranked #1 in the country.

Oh, wait...

I get that, but KSU has a better look all around.

$3M less and you get an imposing facility at KSU without pipes, tubes and air ducts to fight with during their build out.

No, just do what KSU did and call it a day. Building your basketball facilities 1/2 way under ground on the end of a loading dock was a bad idea from the get go. Were they trying to hide the loading dock? Why not build it in the front of the Lloyd Noble Center to add some sense of architecture to a building that's butt ugly?

Regardless, go big and bold or put it on hold. Piecemealing isn't the solution as it costly, which KSU proves our point. OU has $7M for a S&C center earmarked, so add $11M to that and build like KSU IN FRONT of the Lloyd Noble and make a statement, when fans drive up. Who cares if the dock loaders see the facilities? Leave that for the concert goers.

Wasn't Kansas State the school that was the beneficiary of some alum winning the lottery? Are they still living off of that money?

OU is constantly updating facilities for all sports, all over campus. If the price of oil wasn't in the dumper, I'm sure the new strength and conditioning buildings would have broken ground. If Kruger ever thinks the decor in his office is hurting recruiting, I'm sure it will get a facelift.

well crap...pic number 4...oops they put the goals on the wrong side of the court. Guess 18 Million doesn't get you perfection~

My point is OU needs to build a stand alone practice facility for OU BB and move the team out of the basement of the LNC loading docks. Not only is the LNC an eye sore, OU's AD plans, approves and builds the BB practice facility around its loading dock. :facepalm

Adding another $7M annex to the loading docks at the LNC is a bad longterm investment, knowing KSU paid $18M for their imposing facility that tells the fans, yes, OU BB is that important to us.

Re: Why does Kruger's office look like a basement?

Do you get paid by the :facepalm?

Nah, me and Mr. :facepalm just have higher expectations for OU's basketball commitment from the university than some here.

OU's basketball needs to move from the LNC basement and loading docks to a new imposing practice facility that would add to the overall brand of OU basketball.

Image, marketing and winning will put fans in the seats. :OU-logo:

I doubt Kruger gives a crap, and given our recruiting, the players don't appear to either.

It sounds like OU wants to make some changes to LNC, and will do so as soon as it makes sense to do so. I'm guessing those offices get a makeover in the next 3-5 years, likely as part of larger project.

Your perspective is the pragmatic approach to his office. I think he is here to coach basketball and anyone that feels he is being deprived because of his office facilities has a loose screw. When the offices were last developed with the addition of the practice facilities that type of ceiling was considered fashionable.

As you said the LNC remodel in the plans will address updating his office issues to be more in line with those posters on an ego trip.

Have you seen the LNC remodel master plan? I haven't. Is there somewhere to access those plans? The current LNC is an eye sore and loading docks and basements aren't the place to build basketball facilities.

Bad idea! :facepalm
